Offline | Wiring question Hi guys, I've been reading this forum on and off for a while now and it's been very useful. So I've decided to join up. Any info I can impart back to the forum I will gladly give. However, I've a few questions to start with: 1) Does anyone know what anything about the 3 'discretionary' lines on the OBD connector (pins 1, 7 and 8)? Are they K-Line or CAN or something else? 2) There is a blue/brown twisted pair that goes to a sensor of some sort on the battery connector in the boot of my MCS. Does anyone know what this is? Thanks, Carmageddon |

Offline | Ok, After searching the forum it apears that I probably want a copy of the BMW WDS DVD. I've had a quick look on ebay and there seem to be quite a few varients the most common being v.8. They also only seem to cost about £3, is this correct. Seems awfully cheep if it really contains that much info about the cars electricals. Anyone got any hints as to which version to spend the money on? Thanks, Carmageddon |

Offline | I think you can get the manuals for free online. I have seen them linked to from different posts on here before. I have had a few of them for things like fitting aero kit and aux driving lights. |

Offline | I bought a copy of BMW WDS off ebay and can recommend it. the twisted pair to the battery connector is the control lines for a smal explosive charge that disconnects the battery is a big crash. Like an airbag detonator. |

Offline | Chris, Thanks for that info. Was it the CD or DVD that you purchased? Is there a version specific to the Mini or does it cover all current BMW models? There are also some 'Workshop Manual' discs for sale, do you know if these are the same or if they contain other information? One more open question: Does anyone know where the GPS antenna is located for the factory installed sat nav? Is the antenna installed if the sat nav option isn't specified? My car is a 2005 MCS. Thanks, Carmageddon |

Offline | Carmag, I bought the CD version and it only covered MINI but in all languages. I yes the full dealer version covers all BMW models. The other workshop manuals (TIS) cover other things and not wiring diagrams. I also use TIS as well as RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog As far as I know the Sat Nav antenna is in the external "shark fin" antenna on the roof. If not specced it is not fitted. Cheeers Chris |

Offline | The WDS CD uses Internet explorer to access it so I guess its possible. I'm no Website expert but would be happy to work with someone who could supply the website, I will supply the files from the CD. Any offers? |

Offline | Zipped up the working bits of the WDA CD are only 4MB. So if anyone wants them, drop me a pm with your email address and I will send on to you. WDS also needs Adobe SVG viwer but that is a free download from Adobe. |
