Cooper Air Filter Change

Hi All,

Anyone got a better guide (maybe some pictures) to drop in a new panel filter to a 06 MC.
Had a look and the hose clip seems awkard to remove, and then reattach- any tips?
Rest is pretty simple i think

The DIY Instructions i got are below:
  1. Put the screwdriver in the metal hose clip and turn, the clip will spring open. Jiggle the hose off of the housing, you just need to get it clear of the housing. [See image 1]
  2. Completely remove the two T25 retaining screws to the right of the filter housing and put them somewhere safe. [See screws ringed in image 2]
  3. Slide the filter housing cover to the left, clear of the retaining lugs and lift clear. It only needs to move about 15 - 20mm (1/2") to the left to clear the lugs. [See lugs ringed in image 3]
  4. Remove the filter, clean the housing and fit new filter.
  5. Replace the housing cover ensuring that the cover locates over the retaining lugs and refit screws. Do not overtighten screws.
  6. Refit hose and hose clip. Use the pliers to refit clip. [See image 4]
From DIY Thread

So any differences/tips/better guides

Thanks!

I don't think you'll get much better than that. Basically, just try and get the screwdriver under the clip and it will just un-pop (if that's a word). You can't reuse it; the panel filter you're fitting should come with a jubilee clip instead.

Point number 3 is important. Don't try and lift the lid upwards after removing the 2 torx screws as this will break the clips on the left. Slide it to the left then it can come off.

It's a pretty simple job, so you shouldn't have any bother.

Hi Sebby,

Thanks for the reply

Well managed to fit it a few hours ago, i just removed the torx screws and then pushed to the left and allowed easy access.

Then swapped over the filter and re-screwed. 10 minute job

United-States housing lid

I recently replaced my air filter and while putting the lid back on I noticed that the clips on the lids left side were broken. I know I didn't do it because the lid came right off after I popped the clip and removed the hose. How Important is it that that left side fits down tightly and if it is very important can I get a new lid from my dealer?
