Any Coopers (non-S) with Nitrous here?

I did a search but nothing came up except for jivanivan's car which he posted 2 years ago. I recently uprated my Midlands transmission (New bearings, syncros, diff wheel, etc) from...

COOPER 5 SPEED GEARBOX (UPRATED)MINI ONE AND COOPER-TO 07/03

I also added a SPEC stage 2 clutch and a light weight flywheel, so now it can handle the extra torque, BUT will my motor hold up as well?

This is for street use... you know... the occasional punch out of a fast corner...

Thinking about the M7/Venom kit which seems pretty safe with the Nitrous Management Module...

Supercharger kits and systems, mini cooper intake, discount fuel injectors

Current engine mods are:

Denso Iridium spark plugs
Magnecor KV85 Competition (8.5mm) ignition cables
K&N 69 series short ram intake system
M7 58mm throttle body V.2
MTH high-performance manifold
OBX Racing Sports Exhaust
MTH tuning software

How many HP? I dunno... never dynoed... but it does pack a nice punch!

A lot of the Americans suggested to do head work and a new cam but in my opinion, for the money it just isn't worth the it for the amount of HP gains... well not yet anyways until I actually NEED to rebuild the engine... and if I do I would go all out...

But for now... NITROUS!

So I would like the opinions of Cooper owners from across the pond... where the Mini came from... Europe! What do you think of Nitrous on a Cooper?

Not interested in the Nitruos - what about quad throttle bodies????

That looks awesome!

Hey JWF we do drag race the Mini but the engine is stock as rock

Unfortunatley the Cooper engine is a different deal and I can't comment on it because we've never fitted nitrous on one as yet, though I do believe the pistons and rods are cast, this would be the weak point.

We do have quite a few bullets in stock so maybe we should experiment with one to the point of destruction so we know what a safe limit is

the other prob witht the coooper is the midlands box's total inability to cope with the boost of torque a shot of nos would bang into it i think that could lead to problems as you cant dump the cluch on it form memory either

is there a major diff in the pistons and head work on the cooper form the S ? as i was lead to belive the heads were similar but lohens wossner forged pistons and race profile cam shout stand upto the boost

confusion, madness and disorder .............. my work here is done

The heads are the same and so is the cam, in most cases with pistons you have to make them to suit nitrous, unless you're running a very mild tune.

Never had any probs launching it with soft Yoko A032R's in competition. Seems to survive enough power to spin the wheels off the line.

I've just toasted my 3rd gearbox. One diff (before I'd ever raced it - gymkhanas mainly as I don't have a roll cage), and 2nd gear synchro twice

You're doing the right thing there because if you tried any of the bigger shots you wouldn't go back to the 35

Sorry, it just seems a little silly spending all that money, when you could just trade it in and get a Cooper S. Then you have even more scope still. Or maybe i am just getting old
