Online | Bluefin Superchip Question Hiya, I'm new to the forum and would like to say a big hello to everyone! I have been having a read through some other 'bluefin' threads, but none answer my questions. I have a Mini Cooper S, 53 plate 170bhp. Ok, On the lohen website, it says a bluefin superchip will add about 8bhp - has anyone added the bluefin and found an exact increase? I know each car is different, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually done this and, When you remap the ECU with the bluefin chip, does this process need to be carried out each time you start the car to remap the ECU to the Bluefin remapped profile, or does the ECU store the new 'remapped' stats? Many Thanks! |

Offline | Hi There and welcome Unsure of the exact increases to be gained by the new map but once the bluefin has been up loaded the ECU will memorise the settings. Given that though i believe it resets the learning curve aswell so it takes a few hundred miles to totally settle in. Hope this helps Checkie Checkmate mad owner |

| What's Next? | Take a look at the Superchips website, should answer all your questions: Superchips - Superchips Applications. Surely if your car is a '53' plate it will be the 163BHP engine? If so, you will get a 6BHP increase. |

Online | That was another question I was going ask actually, the salesman told me that it was 170bhp rather than the 163, I actually asked him the question. After reading through on here it seems a 'facelift' occured between the 03 and 03 plates? Can anyone confirm what the differences are, and also what bhp my 53 plate is, bearing in mind I have been told its a 170? Thanks again ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | the main differences I believe are a lighter crank pulley and a different ratio gear box and probably a little ecu fiddling. Also heard that the later superchargers were teflon coated inside to improve air flow efficiency, not too sure though. These changes kick in on the late 54 plate as far as I know. ![]() |

Offline | The salesman was wrong about a 53 plate cooper S having 170bhp, it has 163bhp. I have a Bluefin on my MCS and it has made the the engine so much smoother. I don't know if it has an extra 8bhp, but it does feel more powerful than before. It's also more economical as well. When i first uploaded the new Bluefin map onto the ECU, it didn't feel any different to start with, as the ECU has to learn how to use the new settings. But after 50 - 100 miles it felt way better than before. Once the bluefin is loaded it stays there until you reload the stock map back again. |

Offline | Facelift was July 04, so applies to late 04 plate cars or if you could make the dealer wait until September 1st - 54 plate cars. Look for the car build date on the top of the drivers side wheel arch (you will see it when you lift the bonnet). Did you buy it from a BMW dealer? ![]() |

Online | No, I got it from a trader off autotrader magazine. I suppose his knowledge of Minis is likely to be limited, so he was probably wrong and it is actually the 163 model, but with a new air filter and possibly a reduction in pulley wheel size, I should make up for the lost horsepower anyway right? Cheers |

Offline | the diff between the 03 and 04 face lift models are a diff superchrager (teflon coated), revised injectors, and new gear ratios but a GTT stage 1 as capsaisin said would make up the differnace, or if you willing to fork out 3.5k the offical mini john cooper works conversion is a granteed 210 bhp (new superhrager, cylinder head, air intake, exhuast, engine map and injectors) |
