DIY Nology Hotwires

Hi folks,

Just upgraded the spark plugs and leads on my Cooper, wasn't too keen on leaving the originals in there for any more than the current 35000 miles that's on the clock.

Decided on Nology hotwires - expensive to buy and I was slightly sceptical about how much I'd notice the difference. The difference though I'm actually very pleased with. I can feel much more urgency in acceleration, and the car is running much more smoothly.

I wouldn't say they transformed the drive at all, there is just a tad more useable power there all the way through the rev range, which is what I was after. I should imagine that on a tuned engine they'd make a huge difference!

Plugs installed are NGK Iridiums...

Also a big thumbs up for MiniManiaUK (one of the MINI2 sponsors) who got the parts ordered up and shipped out to me, and even threw in a few free copies of Mc2 magazine.

Thanks!

nope as they do not increase any BHP of the engine or enhance the looks of the car..

they are just a replacement like if your were to replace a tyre with a different brand

EMPTY SPACE NEEDS FILLING....
but it has to be something that wont get me banned

I did offer the information to my Insurance company to be on the safe side, they said no need to worry though since they are not a part that claim a precise BHP increase, and as you have said are purely a like-for-like swap.

Service is due next week though which will be interesting.

Of topic, but sure to raise an eyebrow or three.
It seems that if a car is fitted with runflats from new is subsequently re shod with non runflat rubber some insurance companies are claiming it invalidates the insurance because the cars is significantly modified from the manufacturers spec.

Auto Express has a piece about it today so it must be true But has anyone else heard this ?

Maybe one of our forum posters who works in insurance could check it out
