MTH Chipping Information

Hi all,

Does anyone know much about the MTH chipping?
It says it gives upto 200BHP on a Cooper S, has anyone on these forums had this done - any advice/feedback?

Thanks

Just bought a Mini Cooper S !!

I'd take these numbers with a grain of salt ...

The horsepower is 30 more than stock but the torque is the same as stock

No way an ECU remap alone is going to give a 30 horsepower gain.

The power gain MTH claims is not realistic. We as the NewMINIclub have proven it by putting a lot of MTH MINI's (Both S and Cooper) on the dyno next to 100% stock (including JCW). Dyno charts are available and already on this forum.

Nevertheless, MTH doesn't feel bad, probably one of the best you can get for your money. Just don't expect the power gain they claim.

I can't tell you anything about the power gains from the MTH upgrade as I haven't bothered with a dyno since installing it.

On the road however it feels very good indeed. The power delivery is much smoother.
I have just spent 4 days of "spirited" driving in the South West of WA in the company of several JCW equipped cars and there is nothing in the on road performance between the JCW cars and the MTH car. This is in both 0 - 100 sprints and at overtaking speed. The only downside so far is that fuel consumption has increased.

What mods do you have besides the MTH ECU remap?

That is unless you happen to have the best minge ever to roll off the production line with a new oversize crank pulley Nothing can touch me!

Ah yes, I should have mentioned the one JCW with MTH and oversized crank pulley that spits out gravel like a gatling gun
