GTT 17% Supercharger Pulley

Hey - apologies but here comes another pulley question!!

I have a pretty much stock Cooper S (pre facelift)- only current engine mod is a GTT CAI. I am thinking about a GTT % pulley and sticky belt as the next move.

I have two questions really-
1) Without getting a software upgrade along with the pulley will there be any problems- pinking etc (I have heard that standard ecu software is actually well suited to pulley reduction?)
2) Has anybody experienced detonation due to original spark plugs

and finally-
All comments greatly appreciated -anybody with a similar spec to described want to give me some testimony???

tbh you should be ok - would recommend that you defo get some colder spark plugs if your going ahead with pulley upgrade - ECU remap is not always required

As an aside, how do you find the GTT CAI? Was it easy to fit and did it come with fitting instructions?

Thanks.

I also have a GTT CAI.

The car breathes more freely - and it doesn't run out of puff at the top end of rev-scale.

It is very easy to fit - I'm really really crap at diy and I managed to remove existing air filter, drill 2 x 50mm dia. holes in the bulkhead and fit GTT CAI in 15 mins.

I fitted the 17% GTT pulley a month or so back. Once I put the engine back in I started swapping out the plugs but the cr*ppy halfords spark plug tool broke after spark plug 2. So for a week I ran 2 iridium plugs and 2 regular plugs with no ill effects. Also had my MTH remap upgraded to take account of the new pulley and to be honest I haven't noticed any difference with regards to the remap. But the pulley upgrade is great!!!!

Only word of advice is buy or rent the right puller and get 2 car jacks! That reminds me, butter send MiniMania their puller back............
