Offline | I was just wondering if people over here used them. I wouldn't mind getting one but I don't want to order one from the states. Are there any UK sellers for them, if so what companies? I'm sure they work well if they are that big in the states. ![]() |

Offline | I've ordered from the same place as Berthil Their version even though more expensive, looks to be better placed and better engineered with the very substantial brackets keeping the damper directly in line with the engines movement. They do 2 versions depending on which engine mounts you have. Texas Speedwerks MINI Damper Kits Can't wait for this to arrive ![]() |

Offline | There are two different dampers being discussed in this thread. The Helix / LordOfTheFlies version is half the price of the Texas Speedworks version, mainly because it doesn't require brackets to be fitted (except in the case of 2002 and early 2003 builds). |

| The Power Cube | Do these actually do anything? They can't remove vibration - that already passes through the engine mounts. They can't remove movement - they move themselves. They can't remove noise - it's only a shock. Unless anybody else can argue otherwise? Cheers, K. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

Offline | The engine damper has a similar effect of installing a stiffer engine mount, without having to replace the mount or its bushings. It actually adds both vibration and noise because it is an additional path to transmit them from the engine to the passenger compartment. It reduces movement, not remove it. Open your bonnet and watch how much the engine moves as you rev it in neutral. An engine damper limits the amount of motion. In the end, it is the usual tradeoff between comfort and performance, just like using a softer or stiffer suspension. |

| MINI2 Regular | Who are you calling a "mob"? And what does "mob" mean anyways? Hi there everybody. I am the guy that is selling the engine dampers as per the original link. I am also the guy supplying Helix with the dampers. With the dampers you really notice a nice difference during hard shifting. No longer do you have to wait for the clunk to pass before punching it into the next gear. Moving from a standstill is also greatly improved as you no longer have that terrible "shudder", as if you didn't know how to engage the car. As far as the NVH is concerned, I feel almost zero difference in my car with the damper installed. And before the mod gods get on me, I have repeatedly tried to gain sponsorship on MINI2 but have been informed that Paul Mullet is currently unavailable for personal reasons so that is the only reason why I have not yet become a vendor. I am currently a vendor on NAM. If anybody has any questions please feel free to contact me at sales@shoe-in.net. And for reference here are some customer comments: Thanks. Shoe "Do or do not.
