JCW Exhaust on a One - Tuning?

Hi I'm being offered a 7month old JCW exhaust from a friend who's got a 2005 MINI One, i've got a 2006 MINI One Seven. He's upgrading his car so doesn't need the exhaust anymore (or doesn't want to give it to the dealer anyway!).

Will it just be a case of simple swap-over, that any exhaust place should be able to do? I'm hoping it won't have any warranty issues either as mine is still well under warranty. Does the JCW exhaust have a lifetime warranty as it's stainless steel? Sorry for all the questions still quite new to the modding game

Any of you guys done this sort of thing before? Any advice much appreciated

Go for it mate! The JCW exhaust will fit straight on as the Cooper and One are basically the same car, the latter just being de-tuned in the ECU department. You'll need to unbolt the old system from the manifold and possible swap the mountings for the ones your mate has been using for the JCW system.

You won't have any vehicle warranty issues as it is a MINI-approved part you are fitting, and the only one they say retains your warranty. not sure how the system warranty works, it may well just be applicable if the original owner makes a claim.

Oh and regarding making a claim...tell the insurance company. It's not a subtle thing to replace the old one with and they will see JCW inscribed on it. Probably won't cost anything more anyway, but better safe.

What new bits? I didn't buy any new bits...

Thanks for that, I will tell the insurance company as I don't want to risk anything. Problem is I rang them to find out how much it will affect my premium and they want an extra £94 just for the exhaust!!

This is with MINI Cover too, and I made sure they knew it was a genuine BMW part but she said it made no difference. I'm 20yrs old with 3yrs no claims (touch wood ). Might ring again closer the time and see if someone else will quote differently

ye ive herd that you wont keep the warrenty on it because i want to do it, they cant fit it or anythink even though there is no problem with the fitment the only people that done it and you could still keep your warrenty was the JCW garage themselves but they shut down so im dissapointed, i need some help on the warrenty side aswell, thanks mark

to be honest theres not much an exhaust can do its more some dealers are fussier than others some even turn a blind eye to works motorsport parts (those sold form the JC web site are by and large not approved mini parts as they are john cooper challange parts) and not anything to with bmw unlike the sound pack parts (will only hold warranty on a cooper) and the works 210 kit (will only hold warrnaty on a cooper S )

confusion, madness and disorder .............. my work here is done
