Offline | My Quicksilver exhaust update Hi, Well, I've bought myself a new exhaust (Quicksilver) and was going to get it fitted but got a friend who has kindly offered to help me try to install it! Wouldnt chance it on my own but other guy has a decent idea on these things so I should be ok i hope! Anyway was hoping there might be some kind of install guide on here (at least i can contribute something to the install then! )but have only been able to find this one, but sadly the pics have been removed:http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_performance#faq_faq_fitting_s_exha ust Just hoping someone might know of a decent thread or two on this - I’ve had a search for half an hour or so but don’t seem to be finding much. Thanks a lot……Hope it’s not too difficult to fit??? Will let you know how I get on and hopefully get some sound clips too! Cheers Last edited by Taylor : Nov 29th, 2006 at 11:13 AM. Offline | Thought i'd post an update after fitting my Quicksilver as there isn't much about them on the forum (speaking from my own experience when looking into them! ).Hardest part of changing the exhaust was actually removing the old one - had a few problems here getting one particular nut loose but manged to sort it out eventually! Anyway as for fitting the Quicksilver - wow how easy was that! Bolted everything together and in place by hand; made a few adjustments so everything lined up well and then went through to tighten it all up! Anyway then was the bit i wasn't sure about........turning the key and hearing the tone! Little worried as i'd only heard some really poor clips on the net and you're never sure what you're getting into with dodgy sound quality etc. Anyway what a treat i was in for - really suprised and happy with the tone - it's spot on when i start it up (real grunt!!!) and not too loud when driving around but certainly does add some much needed agression and attracts the odd turned head . If you really get the right peg down it can make some genuine noise too, again without soundish like a chav - the tone is just great!!! I know they make claims about improved performance but i wasn't expecting anything here but again the car really does seem to shift now! I've a K&N Typoon fitted but other than that the car is about standard (under the bonnet at least ).And finally just to cap it all off the twin oval pipes look the dogs - never been a fan of the standard pipes and that was really my only complaint about the back of my car - this has really sorted it out though; just looks mint!!! Anyway, i'll try and get some sounds clips for anyone who's interested and some pics! Really really impressed with the Quicksilver Supersport! ![]() |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | Ye the exhaust is a bit out ofline, when i got it fitted at tripple 6 in boro he said the it was off a One which confused me as i bought it off a cooper s owner! and the back box mounts didnt fit so he had to exyend it and its just a bit out of line, i could take it off and slightly bend it but it dnt bother me that much! |

Offline | I presume that with Quicksilver only having the one silencer they’ve jumped to the conclusion that it’s from a One – when they’re actually made for a Cooper but can be fitted to a One if you get the trim changed to suit the centre pipers. With regards to actually lining up the pipes the exhaust comes in bits that really just clamp together so there is actually some play in how much exhaust tip you want to stick out at the back and don’t think it’d be too bigger deal to adjust the angle the exhaust hangs at with a few spanners and a quick tap here and there!!! I was told the quicksilver wasn’t very loud so I was a bit worried about it as I’d not heard one but it’s just spot on – it’s certainly not overly loud on the inside or the outside. I mainly drive round town but have been on the motorways cruising at 70mph+ and again it doesn’t seem to drone much at all – most aftermarket systems change the tone and volume level but it’s certainly not unbearable or something I’ve been really aware of. Took a bird out in it the other day and she said she liked it and even commented it wasn’t too noisy inside but sounded good when I drove up – and she’s one of these who hates loud exhausts and was p*ssed off with me when I fitted it because “I’d ruined her favourite car!” |
