Offline | here's a cut and past from this thread from 3/2006: post #50 http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...bluefin-2.html Ok, installed the Bluefin today on my MINI Cooper (non-S). I did some before and after HP runs with my tazzo vpc Temp was 37F, I put 2650# in for the weight. Warmed the car up driving 10 minutes then I did some speed band hp runs always from the same stop sign on a flat stretch and always shifting from first to second about 2,000 rpm. I did 20-30mph and 30-40mph twice each, then 30-40mph and 40-50mph three times each, and then 20-30 and 30-40 once more in that order, and the results in each category were fairly consistent (at least for average hp over the band...it also measures peak hp, but that varies a lot more from run to run... it picks up bumps and cracks in the road and reads them as acceleration). Then I installed the Bluefin, rested the car, and repeated the same procedure. Here are the averaged results: 20-30mph (2222-3333 rpm -avg about 2800) stock 40/ BF40 +0 HP 30-40mph (3333-4444 rpm -avg about 3900) stock 56/ BF 57 +1 HP 40-50mph (4444-5555 rpm - avg about 5000) stock 74/ BF 77 +3 HP 50-60mph (5555-6666 rpm - avg about 6100) stock 72/ BF 82 +10 HP. Remember that this is hp calculated by acceleration on the road with drivetrain losses, rolling resistance, and air resistance cutting down the results compared to hp at the crank. It got a little more hp near the redline and a bit less further down than I expected, but I'm happy with the results. |
