Has anyone noticed that the exhaust hanger mounts on the older cars is different from the newer cars?

I have a Mar02 Cooper and the back box is secured with a band with 2 inward pointing hooks, whereas Zoooooms Oct01 Cooper has outward pointing hooks as shown in the picture below.

Now what i want to know (before i remove my pipe) is whether the older style box will fit onto my car or will i have to do some surgery to my car or the backbox to make it fit?

does any one have any thoughts? The exhaust seems to be mounted from 2 bolt on brackets - each secured with 2 bolts -

I spoke with JCW, and they said that they had 2 different boxes for the older and newer design, but why change it so soon aftr production.

The reason i ask is that i have bought Zoooooms HKS system and i will need to get it fitted. I know an ace stainless steel fabricator who can cut the mounting lugs off and weld new ones on to suit the newer style, nut have you seen the finish on the HKS setup???? it luvely and i don't want to commit sacrelige if i can avoid it.confused:
