Velvet Cooper Induction kit help?

Hi all,

I fitted a 57i K&N induction kit about a month ago to my R50 Cooper but took it off 2 days later as my girlfriend said it was too loud...

I see K&N do a pannel filter and was wondering if this is quiet but better that standard sound?

or has any one got any better alternatives?

Thanks

Too loud!!! A pannel filter should be as loud as a standard filter but will flow air better than the standard filter.

I recently fitted a K&N Panel filter to my Cooper and I didn't really notice any difference in sound - I also haven't really noticed an improvement in performance - i'll know for sure when I get it rolling road tested - but fuel economy has clearly improved.

No noise change to speak of but the car will seem a touch more responsive and fuel economy did improve in my S.

I put a K&N in my Park lane cooper...... sounds a little differant, but only from the outside. If you stand by the bonnet you can here it sucking a little bit more. Sounds quite nice....well i think it does!

Inside, there is no differance at all!

Seemed to make the pick-up a little more responsive. but nothing huge. And i guess my mpg went up a little....maybe 5 miles more out of a tank! so not much!

edit; your mpg may go up more! i drive mine like i stole it most of the time.....(when safe to do so that is!!!!!!!!) so normally only get 300miles from a tank of super unleaded.

My MPG probably increased due to the state of my old 47K OEM filter..... lucky to be getting any air through it at all..... the problems of TLC servicing!

I installed a MINI-Madness CAI and TBH the only notice of noise level increase is when I are really stepping on the gas now.
