Offline | Cooper Head seeing that he JCW mod for the S involves a replacement cylinder head, does anyone know just what he is doing that requires this head mod? i assume that he takes your old head as re-workable core, but then: if his kit has higher boost pressure, does he mod the combustion chamber to : correspondingly reduce the compression ratio? different flame propagation shape? plug layout?, twin plugs? what about cams? is the valve train modded for higher rpms, and does he get HP that way? in a supercharged engine, one would think porting and valve size would be less important and flame blowout and propagation would get more important? anyone know about this? john |

Offline | John, Being in the dark myself about the JCW mod, I suspect a pulley change and/or modified supercharger to increase boost pressure is the key. Mods to the cylinder head could include: change in valve size, minor porting and re-shaping of the combustion chambers to aid in flame propagation, change in compression ratio (up or down????), improved ignition (twin spark plugs would be neat), etc. A modified fuel pump, air intake and exhaust system could possibly be a part of the kit. Hmmm. ![]() Do you any preliminary info on expected HP/torque gains for the Cooper and Cooper S? 2005 Mercedes Benz C55 AMG 2006 BMW Z4 M-Coupe - Premium Pkg. 2007 Honda Fit - Sports Pkg. 2005 V-Star 1100 Custom 2007 Honda 250 Reflex |

Offline | Perhaps the supercharger its self will be machined to increse flow or the rotors will be changed. Or they could just swap the supercharger for a bigger one. Seems like the stock charger is a M45, anyone know for sure? MCS IB/IB, SPRT, PREM, Aero kit, RE90s |
