Online | Remap with Lohen's LCS1 Guys, I'm a bit hazy with what goes on under the bonnet, but I see when you go for Lohen's LCS1 package, you get amongst other things, a remap. What happens when the MINI goes in for a service? I thought I'd read somewhere that ECU was wiped, or returned to standard. Is that true, and if so, what happens to the remap? Oh, and anyone who's had the 210 package fitted, how does it feel? ![]() |

Offline | Lohen's packages usually come with a Bluefin to do the remap. This means that you can take the map on and off at will using the handheld programmer. SO justbefore servicing you cna set the map back to standard and return it to normal after being in with MINI. Not that I've been looking at a remap for my Cooper. Noooooo nooo noo...... ![]() |

Offline | BMW won't DME programme unless you ask, although somethimes if they fiddle with something they will pop the latest map on....but its rare. However don't worry as the Lohen kits are with Bluefins (means you can map it yourself using a special unit they give you). |

Online | Right okay, I didn't realise I got let loose with dangerous implements ![]() Is each unit specific to each car? If not, I'm sure it could find it's way to you, Niall... ![]() Are there any downsides or disadvantages? |

Offline | Hi Nylo, Thinking along these lines as well, but just the Bluefin as my induction is taken care of already. You buy the Bluefin from one of the many sources and plug it into your car's diagnostic port. Then you follow the instructions it gives you and the Superchips map for your model is loaded onto the ECU. The original map you had is stored on the handheld and this can be swapped backwards and forwards as necessary. One thing that happens with the download is that the handheld locks itself to your car's engine/chassis number (don't know which) and can only be used on your car. If you come to change your car or sell it the handheld would need to be reset by Superchips in order for you to use it again. They charge approx £210-215 for the pleasure, so it would be cheaper than a new one, but not lots (worth bearing in mind if you are looking to buy one second-hand - don't over-bid!). If MINI overwrite your Bluefin map you will have to plead with Superchips to reload the unit for free. They should do this though as the unit will still be locked to your car and will have a standard map on it, so from their point of view you're not pulling a fast one. Worth getting in touch with them to clarify this though. What new bits? I didn't buy any new bits... |

| Polo GT Owner! | I dont think the units are specific to each car, each one has the same 'remap' on it to upload to your car Downsides / Disadvantages - Worse fuel consumption I had, only because I was thrashing it a bit more Other than that not many I can think of! ![]() ::MINI Sold! Offline | Oh if it were that easy! I've been reading up on them over the last few weeks. I'm nearly out of warranty so I plan on doing a few more things to the car over the next few months. Then I'll get it on a Rolling Road and see what difference it all makes.![]() |

Offline | Aparently it is possible to get the Bluefin reset so you can use it on another car, all you need to do is say you are getting a new car and give them both the chassis number of the new car and the old one. I recently had my bluefin remap deleted by the mini garage when they were replacing my clutch so i sent the handset off to superchips and they reset it completely free of charge. |

| Damned | I had the LCS1 kit fitted in December, Great Improvement. See >> http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...10bhp-kit.html {and apparantly it costs you around £200 to reset a specific bluefin device} ![]() In da Wud |

Online | As has been said already Carolyn, the remap is installed by a Bluefin handset, though not with the standard cooper S Bluefin software, but a custom map from Superchips for Lohen to work with a reduced 15% supercharger pulley. Somebody on here with a Bluefined cooper recently had his ECU reflashed by his dealer. His MINI had a clutch failure, which ment it had to be towed to the dealer without being able to replace the Bluefin with the original software. So he was left with BMW software in the ECU and a copy of his original BMW software in his Bluefin handset. So he sent the handset back to Superchips for a software upgrade, and they sent it back with the Bluefin software back on it free of charge. Do you know what your dealers policy is in regards to aftermarket tuning ?. If there OK about it then you can always leave a note in your steering wheel, saying " DON'T TOUCH THE ECU ". |

Offline | Once used bluefin is loclked to a car. Can be unlocked for a fee. The maps can be changed back and forth by owner though. Easy to tell BMW not to touch anything on the car without asking including nupdating DME (Use the excuse that you like the traction settings as they are and don't want it fiddled with weithout your ok) the lohen bluefin on lsc1 is not standard bluefin remap...its aspecial one lohen and superchips did to take into account the reduced pulley so maps the car more than the standard s bluefin 8hp. |

Online | I have a pretty good relationship with the dealer, who's as much of a MINI nut as the rest of us, so I'd probably be able to get round that problem, should it ever arise. He lurks round here anyway, so he'll probably read about this plan before I even think about telling him ![]() I've already got a Pipercross panel filter, and the Works exhaust, so it would be interesting to get the remap done, even from that point of view ![]() |

Online | I'm seriously considering it, and I'm probably taking the MINI over for Goonery and Pappi's run round Wales at the end of April, and as Lohen isn't too far away, I'd be tempted to pop over to see them ![]() |
