Offline | No but yeah but no but yeah but.... ...you can, loads of people have done it, just its not quite as good, and has a slightly larger chance of failure (of the supercharger) but wouldn't say anything drastic... ...wait to see what the other tuners say. However Roland of GTT or Nick or Audrey of Lohen should be able to give you a better explanation as they both run the older 163bhp (originally) cars. ![]() |

Offline | What Damo says (and thank you for the compressor versions explanation )If you keep your S a little longer my advice would be to get a facelift supercharger of of e-bay while they are still out there from the Works conversion, and put an Alta V2 pulley on it (i just got a brand new spare compressor for 120 pounds). Then find someone who knows what he is doing with a nice hour rate to change your supercharger to the facelift one. The facelift supercharger alone will give you 0,1 to 0,2 more pressure. With this setup you're on the safe-side if you decide to fit a bigger crank pulley in the future. Because you'll get used to the power some day and probably want more ![]() A smaller compressor-pulley with a bigger cranck-pulley is not recommended on a pre-facelift compressor. Offline | I'm basically thinking along the same lines as the original poster and would like to upgrade to a smaller pulley, just to pull together everything thats been written and confirm what I think; It is reliable to run the original supercharger with 15% pulley? I'm really not a maniac behind the wheel, I don't think i've ever even pulled the redline in my mini but would just like that little extra urgency. |

Offline | If you don't redline it then a 17% or even 19% would probably be your better bet. 15% is more for people who still want to use the whole rev range. 19% is better for people who don't red line it for any length of time, and 17% inbetween. ![]() |

Offline | Hmm been debating the pulley on mine for a while and loads have done it to the the 163bhp cars from what ive seen and had no probs, however from what I'm reading on this thread it seems that 163bhp + pulley = Bang - 170bhp + pulley = no probs, ok not quite that bad but it doesnt inspire me with confidence .... i'm 163bhp and 50,000miles. Would be happy for someone to talk me round though ![]() ![]() |

Offline | So i might even get away with the 17% pulley? Does anybody have just this mod alone? If so would love to hear some feedback. I've narrowed it down to either; A) Buy Cold Air Induction kit and reroute exhaust from GTT and fit myself and get local mechanic to do exhaust or B) Go to lohen for 15/17% pulley fitting and maybe if I can stretch to it get the reroute (but probably not). What does anybody think? Which way should I go? Not to say I wont do both eventually but I've got bills like everyone else!! ![]() |

Offline | If you want power then pulley & exhaust manifold are you best bang for the buck, we know people who have made 225whp with the stock Cooper S system. and we recently witnessed 196whp with a pulley ex manifold and CAI and stock exhaust system.
