Offline | Gimme a good exhaust... Hi all, I'm looking for a good sounding exhaust. I don't have much money, but I do want something with a decent, loud sound. I've heard good things about Borla but that it's pricey. I hear Milltek is good too. Can someone give me some approximate price figures (I know it varies from place to place, just in the ballpark would be good) on the Borla, Milltek, or any other suggestion you might have??? Thanks so much. |

| FlyingSmiley | I fitted an Alta Sportone about a month ago to my 04 MCS and I am enjoying every minute of driving. Has a good deep sound, not riced out and whiny. I paid just under $600 for it and that included shipping over here. Only problem I have is the tip is slightly angled when looking straight down the boot, thats only minor and I am the only one to notice. |

Offline | I'm no mechanic, so I can't install an exhaust myself, and if I did, the whole car would just explode. Did you install yours? If so, was the installation relatively cheap, because that's what I'm guessing. |

| FlyingSmiley | The install is easy it is 4 bolts and 2 hangars. I did it myself. There are a couple of gaskets that go inbetween the pipes of the exhaust. they should come with it, along with all hardware needed. My guess is if you took it to a shop it would take less than an hour to fit. I would ask a Slightly Mechanically inclined friend to help and you can have the job done for free in a couple of hours. A decent tool kit, some WD40, and Jack Stands is all you need. |

Offline | Yep, a DIY install of a cat-back zorst shouldn't be too hard really. I had the benefit of a hoist owned by a friend of a friend... SmugMug - 27772 : MY04 MINI Cooper S ...and some mates to make sure I didn't bugger anything up. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | The borla is considered to be very loud by many. Not a bad exhaust but some think its a touch on the larey side. The milltek is excellent and playmini is not bad. Most are of similar cost to the milly for a cat back on either vehicle. |
