Lohen stage one conversion for cooper

Im just after people experiences with the stage one conversion from lohen increasing BHP to 130.

Is the car completely transformed? Is it worth it? Just general questions.

At the moment im weighing up wether to start saving intime for sunny day driving . Whats the power like for overtaking and is there more power at high revs!?

If anyone can shed some light on the matter would be much appreciated!

I've done a similar thing to mine, although just not using Lohen parts.

I had an AMD one-click (same thing as a Bluefin, but was around earlier), NGK Iridium plugs, plus a panel filter, and have since added a few more bits.

You will notice the difference. Why not try and find a car to try first though?

I think its going to take alot of hunting to try and find one.

Is there a cheaper alternative to the lohen kit?

I am prepared to save and go to lohen but if there is a cheaper alternative, without a comprimise in quality, then that'd be useful to know.

The Lohen one is really quite good value . I would upgrade to the induction kit never mind a panel fillter. You have the lovely growel aswell.

I don't think you'll find a similar package for much less to be honest. Most of the cost (~£300) is for the Bluefin remap. You might save a bit of money getting an alternative map (e.g. MTH) but not much. Also, don't overlook the value of the Superchips warranty you get with the Bluefin

If money is tight then if anything I'd say skip the plugs as they will make the smallest difference of the three components, and just get the remap + filter (that's what I did)

Depending on the age of the car that is... I changed my plugs at 32k and they were totally shot

BMW would have left them in for another 18k if i'd have stuck to the TLC...

So if your Cooper has a few miles on the clock, don't ignore the plugs.

ah thanks deggles!

Obviously cost is always an issue but i always think its worth paying abit extra for quality and a proven product. Just wanted to make sure there wasnt an equally good product from a lesser known company.

Thanks for the help, ive already started saving. (only up to £12.15 but its a start!)

A fair way to go then I think Lohen will give you 5% discount if you're a MINI2 privilege member so that should bring your target a little bit closer. Every little helps as they say

Ooohh, that is useful information! I've been looking at a Bluefin as I have already got a panel filter fitted and a few quid off might just push me over the edge! Must give them a call.

LOL I doubt it. Just divert some of your beer expenditure towards the MINI mod fund and you'll be there in no time

/my student days are long gone. Sadly the debt isn't

ive never used theses people not even on my brothers 1.3 cooper, but i keep linking them because the prices are good i reckon and so if i do get a mini then id be going to them...

One/Cooper Tuning Kit 1

your mostly paying for the chip and you get the exhaust and filter for abit less than they sell on their own(well exhaust anyways) , for £40 less you can buy that exhaust system with the same brand manifold, but obviously wont benifit as much in performance

Hey people just been looking at what to do next and was considering jcw sound kit but this looks like a good option! Will it invalidate my warranty (my car is a 55 cooper) or will that depend on the dealer?

Will the kit improve 0-60 or in gear times the most? Will it sound a lot different to standard/jcw sound kit?

Cheers Guys

Yes this will invalidate your warranty unfortunately, not official MINI kit. It will only invalidate the warranty of parts effected by the kit, in this case the engine. The Blufin has it's own warranty, see Lohens website for details. The Blufin warranty does have the 'warranty is not valid if the car has other mods' clause though.

It is the exhaust and 'special' air box in the sound kit that changes the sound of the car. The panel filter in the Lohen kit may change the sound of the car slightly but not much I wouldn't have thought. So pretty close to standard I'd say, but am no expert.

cheers Humph yeah thought it would i think the jcw sound kit will probably be the only really viable option for me then, cant afford a new engine if anything happens lol!! Im quite happy with the power of the car anyway, just on the odd occasion it can catch you in a flat spot.

Can you still get the jcw sound kit for the first gen? I have seen the offer from Woodmans i think but wasn't quite sure if it was a case of "once we have sold them there wont be any more" lol!
