| MINI2 Newbie | Replacing Lid on std. airbox after K&N Panel... Hi everyone... I put on my K&N panel filter this evening - but after installing the rubber seal that came with the kit onto the airbox lid the left hand side of the airbox lid doesn't seem to fit back down onto the box correctly. After putting the screws back in and tightening you can still pull up the left hand side of the lid, it's like it's not clipped down properly. Now i've done things like this a million times (replaced filters, not stuffed up airboxes ), and this seems strange. Is the left hand side of the lid supposed to clip down at all? There doesn't seem to be any hooks to slot down over or clip into. What am I missing? Offline | Hmmm, I did mine a month or so back - all seemed to fit together tight enough for me. Only problem I had was having to fit a new clip onto the outlet hose as I broke the old one taking it off. ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | hmmm odd - do you remember if you had to clip down the left hand side somehow (the side opposite the screws) - how was it held down? I used the jubliee clip that came with the K&N panel - couldn't put enough pressure on the old clip to close it! 2001 Mini Cooper Chili Red, Chili Pack, Checker Roof, White Mirrors, White Daytona Wheels & White Bonnet stripes, Spotlights. |

Offline | Mark - on my MCS the airbox lid would have to be put in at an angle so that two clips on the back can engage properly with the tags on the base section, the front end then swings down and the screws hold it all shut. I know Cooper airbox is very different but I would hazard a guess it locks together similarly. Hope that helps! |

Offline | Sorry, I forgot.Just been out to have a look - its just as described for the S above. You have to put in on at an angle to the left to allow the 2 clips on the lid to go below the 2 lugs on the box. It could be you have one or both of them sitting on top of the lugs. Best picture I could get of it: |
