Its my opinion that the gains are due to concepts/situations that arent reproducable on a dyno.

But we know that switching the intake produces results measurable on a dyno so we know the dyno shows changes due to improved air flow. Changing an intake from beathing throgh a 1" hole to using a 2" hole is likely to have similar effects - it is all doing the same thing, i.e. improving air flow.

More cold air?

In looking at the design of the Rogue CAI, I wonder why air isn't taken from the area where the brake master cylinder is?
It seems like there would be a lot of cool, even possibly pressurized air coming in from the vents in front of the windshield.
Hey, who wants to start making a scoop to replace those vents that would shoot the air right into the Rogue CAI box?

Ben?

I dont remember anyone ever saying they produced measurable differences on a dyno. Was this on a different thread? Forgive my ignorance, I've been really busy/forgetful lately.

Jmardy, there was a ram air mod done a good while ago that has a scoop under the right front. Everyone said it was no good in the event you ran through a puddle. I think your idea is much better. I bet you could get a good more amount of Hp out of doing that have two 2" pipes going to an ice box. BMP are reading this?

Rogue Engineering are claiming a 9.3hp increase at the wheels with their intake and BMP is claiming a 12.9hp increase. This is consistent with minime s's exteriences on the track. My guess is that the Rogue setup is limited by the small diameter pipe bringing in the air and connecting it to the same source as BMP would give similar power. The hope is that a dyno run would show the extra 3.6hp - maybe more as the Rogue setup is brining in cold air and, after re-reading minime s's post, it sounds like the BMP is open at the back so gets warm air from the engine bay.

Disclaimer: these measurements were from different sources on different cars at different times and places so we don't really know what the real difference is!

The BMP one is open in the back........It gets alot more air and is definitely making more power........next time we go to the track , I would be glad to show you the difference if anyone wants to go(we go to Englishtown , NJ)

NYCMMG Meet No.2 Hosted by Rogue Engineering of HoHoKus, NJ.

This Saturday, September 28th from 10am - 2 pm.

Please join us for a casual get together with your fellow NYC
Metro Mini owners! Coffee and bagels will be served.

We will be raffling off two great gift certificates towards Rogue
products. In addition, Rogue is offering their MCS Cold Air Intakes
and stainless exhausts for both the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S with
free installs. If you are interested in either product, you will need
to call and setup an appointment at 201.444.8150.

Unfortunately Rogue stripe kit installs will not be offered due to the
2+ hours needed for a professional install. Rogue Engineering
representatives will be on hand to answer any questions regarding other
products as well.

And, to make things a bit more interesting, we will be having some
Informal RC car racing. Cruisin RC's, of Ramsey NJ, will be bringing
several RC cars, including some Minis to run at the Rogue lot. So if
you've got an RC, please bring it along!

For driving directions, please refer to http://www.rogueengineering.com

Hope to see you all there!
