Offline | MTh alternative Hi everybody, i just installed the 2.0 15% reduction pulley from alta, and I can say i am impressed, the character of the engine changed and it pulls harder almost from any revs, but above 6000rmp its another thing..... But as many motorists here itīs just not enough, so i was thinking about a ECU upgrade. MTH seemed to be the option since I read good things about their program, but the feedback Iīve gotten from their customer service just makes me want to avoid them, also aided by the fact that they havent answered any of the 3 mails i have sent them. So i wanted to ask you guys who else offers the service MTH does?, where all happens online and with a laptop, with no need to extract and send the ecu.... any help much appreciated... |

Offline | If you're expecting any real noticeable horespower/butt dyno gains from an ECU upgrade, quickly readjust your expectations because you simply will not get anywhere near the bang for buck with any ECU reflash, despite anybody's claims. I have the MTH reflash on my car, also running ALTA CAI, ALTA 15 pulley (v1) and Milltek catback. I'm very happy with this setup. MTH didn't give any real power gains, but the car was ever so more enjoyable to drive because everything became so much smoother. Probably the easiest and simplest way to describe it. I've not had the car on the dyno since fitting the pulley and MTH last August to check the air/fuel ratios, but my fuel economy has improved slightly and I'll have the car on a dyno in a couple of weeks to check all is in recommended parameters. Sorry, I'm not really answering your question. Other options (I may be abit out of date now, so apologies if this is the case)... AmD OneClick, probably not great Nth American support. GIAC or Unichip would most likely have better support for you in Mexico. The biggest problem I see with MTH is that their product is very good, certainly a lot better than their respect for their customers. If you can handle the short term pain, you shouldn't regret the actual product at all. ![]() Cheers Liam |

| I miss my MINI | I'll throw my .02 out there.... There have been some "issues" with MTH lately in regards to customer service and them changing their policy in the middle of service. However, that being said I have always said that I liked the product. I totally support the fact that they want to change their payment scheme I just think that they should honor the folks that have already paid into the old one. Anyway, MTH in my MINI has added some boost, but as mentioned above, it is more about the driveability of the car. It is much smoother.... Don at (DMH Motorsports DMH Motorsports) is probably your best bet to get questions about MTH answered as he is the support rep for North America. He is a stand up guy that will give you the facts only and no fluff. The other options above are also good choices, but you may be without your ECU for a few days while it gets done. FYI, do me a favor. If you do e-mail Don, tell him Will sent you. Global Moderator ![]() Last edited by DaFlake : May 22nd, 2007 at 08:22 AM. |

Offline | Try speaking to lohen.co.uk about their superchips bluefin ... they do the normal one and they also do a special map for 15% reduced pulley cars. Ring or email Nick and Andre they should be able to help...shipping may cost but they are good for customer service. Not sure if they do international but I'd bet money that they do. The installation is easy and you can do it yourself...you can always send the instument back for any future updates (at a fee of almost the same as a new map i think) from superchips. |

Offline | thanks a lot, seems that the only other providing the kind of service I need is Lohen, but how good is his program compared to mth??? and by the way, i did send a mail to Don at DMH (I mentioned your name DaFlake) but havent gotten any answer yet, how long does it take Don to answer regularly?? |

| I miss my MINI | Don usually answers pretty quickly unless there he gets busy. Lohen uses Bluefin (Bluefin - PLUG-IN AND GO. Bluefin by Superchips.) for their maps and I have to warn you that there have been a few reports of blown engines with this system. In all cases that Lohan installed it, they have stood by their product and replaced the damaged engines. Global Moderator ![]() |
