Offline | Unfortunatley until someone buys one and has there car dyo'd before then after its hard to say how much horsepower / torque its going to make and at what part in the rev range. Dont for get to take into account that if you bought that manifold you would either have to adapt your std cat to fit for the MOT which unless you are doing it yourself will cost you more money. Also if the quality is sub standard it could cost you more in labour to fit the manifold. A pulley and an exhaust manifold should be your first mods if you're looking for horsepower. Offline | Does this fit straight on?(no make up pipes needed). And will this go straight on to a JCW cat back system? Does it sound good as well? And what do you do when you take your car for an MOT? Have you got your engine management light off now? Regards James |

| MINI2 Regular | it fitted straight on to my standard exhaust then i shortely bought the milteck cat back system to complete the whole exhaust system. The sounds that came from the manifold were amazing and there were no extra pipes required.I have to say its the best mod i have purchased to date for performace" I fixed te engine management light and fault code through using an o2 simulator from o2 simulator.com or sumthing like that. The simulator send the correct fault code making the de cat no longer a problem to the ecu. It was a bit of a chew fiting it but i got there in the end,i wouldnt say it was hard at all!" phil well worth it and it even sounded good with my standar exhaust" Last edited by philly c : Aug 5th, 2007 at 12:12 PM. |

| Mad Modder | Dont know what your laws are like over there but here in OZ if you are caught not running a cat converter you can be charged by the EPA (environment protection agency) which results in a massive fine.I am running a quality hi flow cat & getting very good results.Tread carefully. |

| MINI2 Regular | thats a big fine!over hear we are only allowed to use aviation fuel on track days as the de cat also. There is a track very close to my house and hense why i have the de cat.For road use a sport cat is required but these can be purchsed from the likes of lohan and roland. there are almost like a de cat but are fully legal and will probably pass the mot. I will soon find out as i have an mot due very soon. |

| Banned | Thank god someone else has bought this ebay manifold and given it good feedback as I'll be fitting mine shortly. Just to put peoples mind at rest re runnning a de-cat, yes it can get you in trouble if the police find out but more than likely you'll get asked to put it right and prove that you have done. A fellow london tunnel runner drives a 355 with a de-cat capristo stage 3 and its monster loud. I was behind him when he got pulled over a few months back, the police made him aware that there was a 75db limit in Kensington at night and that he was easily breaking this. Then they admired his car and sent him on his way. I doubt any police carry emmision testing equipment with them anyway. Do you know of anyone who's been done in the UK? I don't think our plod look at it the same way as they do in Oz. You're more likely to be pulled up here by the tree hugging police for slowly killing the planet one mile at a time ;-) 1320 - Can you PM me a price for fitting the manifold and putting it on the dyno and I'll pop over so we can establish before/after figures. |

| MINI2 Regular | its because the emmision flow is so high that the ecu thinks thats the cat is broken and hence the light comes on. The o2 simulator solves this problem compleately. It was a sooper peice of kit for about 25 pounds i think will post the site up: O2 Simulator try that there is a specific mini one i think! |

Offline | Best bet is a manifold with removable cat....like a GTT one or Janspeed etc etc etc. Then you can just jump underneath undo some bolts and throw the decat on for track days and drag strip ![]() |

| Banned | Cheap MOT's! As my CAT is coming off I thought it a good idea to get it MOT'd before Monday so at least I've got a year before I have to worry about the fact I'm running a de-cat. I found an interesting thread on another site about local council mot stations being cheaper than your average kwik-fit or local garage by about 20% (just booked mine in for ₤40). The main point though is that they don't repair vehicles for the public, only test them, so there's no financial incentive for them to fail the test unless it's genuinely warranted. A list of council MOT stations can be found here: MOT Cost Cutting: Slice the cost of repairs..., |
