Forge intercooler?

My car has already been rr at 249bhp on the standard intercooler. I couldn't tell you the mods except for the obvious, pulley, full exhaust, manifold, etc. All work carried out by ray at West Tuning.

Just orderd a Alta induction kit, but i have a opportunity to purchase a brand new Forge intercooler for £260 delivered. Would there be any beneficial gains through me fitting this?

Its not that you'll gain power, but you'll lose less. Very shocked at that power, suually people have upgraded their intercooler before getting that power.

I know of one car at a reliable 255 (by reliable i mean its not going to blow it based on whats been done to it) and he'd running a charge cooler.

Hmmm, hopefully Ray and shed some light when i see him as he worked on it. Also this was converted in july 2004 when perhaps there where not many options for ICs at that time?

As said you will loose less with this, but would you care to explain what MODS you have for that power please...

Scott

That's what i am hoping to find out on wednesday. Orignally the car only had the works pack fitted but i also have a 5k receipt from west tuning. 1k brembo brakes, 1k alloys, £500 suspension mods, 2.5k engine work. But there is no break down of components.

Just ordered and payed for the IC so i might rebook with ray once fitted. I will drop him a call tomorrow for advice.

no mention of air, via induction or intercooler on west tuning site?
looks like you have a stage 4/5 kit,
would enquire about bigger injectors as well,

It's really quick for a mini. My previous car was a E39 M5 and before that, evos. Performance wise, once rolling say 10mph to 120mph there is very little difference in peformance between the 3.

I know we made 197at the wheels and 235 at the flywheel with a stock intercooler ecu so 249 would be possible with headwork and tuning.

The IC will help you out no end the Alta will but not as much as the IC, are you running a standard airbox with a panel filter at the moment?

Is the lower line wheel horsepower???

I'm still running a standard air box, with a K/N panel filter with 256bhp, but am considering a new air filter

I don't know if the lower line is the wheels figuire or the torque.

Using the standard box with uprgaded panel filter.

It cant be torque because they should cross over at 5250 or equal the same number.

Maybe its the pre modification dyno as if it was wheel it would follow the upper line but its a lot more smoother.

Congrats to u both for making that horsepower with the std air box

-That lower line is a BHP one too (about 183 by my wobbly rular). Im thinking the lower line is @ the wheels? If that is the case that would mean Rays added 37% to the wheels figure ( or 27% losses taken off the flywheel figure).
Ray told me at a Rolling road day he allows for 25% losses on FWD cars to calculate his 'flywheel' figure from his wheels figure . (his words to me).
I've also seen some other plots hes done where the torque and power didnt cross over at 5250rpm (they should) so something would appear to be amiss there too.

Best Regards Roland GTT
