Requirement of sparks on 15% pulley

OK guys

Just wondering how long you could run an S with Milly mani, milly exhaust and alta intake on stock plugs once the pulley is on. Alta 15% pulley is not too big a reduction so what is the real likelyhood of having a problem with sparks getting over hot? Anyone just running thier 15% on the stock sparks?

Also out of interest how many folks run a 15% on a stock belt rather than a reduced belt?

TIA

I dont have a Mini CooperS yet so i cant offer to much advice, but by the mods you have, your Mini will be putting out around 220-230bhp, so i really would change the plugs for some Iridium ones either from Lohen, MiniMania or GTT.

Having the correct plug in any car is vital for reliability, because if something go's wrong with the plugs your engine will be B*g***d!!!

For £30 or so, i really really would recommend you getting some Iridium spark plugs asap!

If you notice, every performance package provided by the tuning companies all include iridium spark plugs for reliability, and smooth engine running and thats even for the Mini One and Cooper!

Yeah it seems OK at the moment but just wondered if anyone was leaving there stock in and not had an issue. Will change to colder iridium ones (the irridium doesn't make them colder its that that i'm wondering about as you can get standard heat range iridium ones and they are cheaper than colder ones) at some point but can you leave them in as i don't want to push my luck and then cost loads of cash...i drive pretty fast as well so advice or experiences good and bad?

Colder plugs are really not needed for a 15% pulley. I was running stock for a year before I switched to colder ones. I wanted to see what the hype was about and all I have found out so far is that I am out about 30 quid. Not worth it IMHO and my stock plugs looked great when I pulled them.

As for the belt, I run stock size but bought a gator (Goodyear) belt. No need for a reduced belt either.

Well its about 220 Loui you mean old dog you!

The only thing missing is an uprated IC. The bypass mod I have adds a bit to the rest of the setup meaning i achieve around the 220 me thinks. We'll see on the RR....i'm catching up fast loui...Run

Well put it this way. I put a hole through one of my exhaust valves and the only real cause of it for me was incorrect spark plugs.

My car had a Hartge conversion, plus manifold, sports cat, exhaust, a remap and colder plugs. It wasn't until the car went into limp home mode I discovered that at some time the plugs had been changed back to standard.

It was acceptable in the 80's

It definitely depends on the mods that have been done. You definitely needed the colder plugs but just a 15% pulley doesn't really require it.
