What coolant should I use?

Hi Guys,

I have an '05 MCS and whilst washing it yesterday I noticed the coolant bottle was almost empty.

I checked the handbook and it says that I can't use just any coolant for it. Does anyone know what I should be using... what do MINI/BMW recommend?

And should I be worried about the bottle level being so low? The car was serviced about 6000 miles ago.

Thanks,
Richard.

youl need green antifreeze theres red/blue/green differant coulors for differant cars minis youse green or can cause engine damage any motor shop will tell you as for the level been down check for leaks around pipes you shouldnt loose any unless its mixing with the oil lift oil cap off if theres a white gunk in the oil filler then theres water in the oil and that could be head gasket or worse but youd know if it was that temp gauge would be up

Thanks for the advice. I've checked under the oil cap and it's clean so I'm guessing it hasn't leaked into there. When driving the temperature guage doesn't go over normal so it's not overheating either.

I'm going to call the MINI dealer this morning and possibly get it booked in to check out. In the meantime I'll get some coolant from the dealer and fill it up.
