What intercooler do i go for

Ok there seems to be plenty of choice, so has anyone got any proper evidence of each type of intercooler available. I'm really interested in seeing what differences on the Air intake temps there are between the main 4. The ones i am considering are the GRS, the GTT one, the Alta version1 and the new stranger looking Alta version 2.

Also is it worht renewing the Oval clamps when i put a new intercooler on, along with a new set of snoot boots.

I rate (and own) the GRS but the GTT seems to be very popular.

Not heard much about the Alta's on this side of the pond.

GTT, GRS, Janspeed, JCW, OMP + various other bits - 232.6bhp, 191.2lbft on 1320's rolling road

I also have the GRS intercooler - have had no problems with it and would recommend it.

If you are replacing the IC remember to fit decent snoot boots (and if you can - an oil catch can!) I can recommend the GTT components.

The Alta version 2.0 are £550 so its probably out of some peoples reach anyway! but if you could try say a Alta version 1 for a week then swap it for a version two you can tell the difference instantly.. its the best up grade i fitted to my GP!

mmm thats food for thought, i do like the look of that alta 2, plus only #550 so not that out of reach for an intercooler. Christ my SEAT Sport one for my old TDi cost 900 quid
