Offline | 500+whp barrier broken & video Project "M" has been progressing on schedule, but making power in small increments is something the Fireballed team are just not used to and not much fun at all. So......Hubie & Brian decided to take a break and change the pace a little. Brian has been great in allowing to use his personal ride as a test mule, but his one and only request has been the most difficult - "do whatever it takes" he said...."but don't leave any fingerprints! " Try making ridiculous power without making a mess and you will understand..... After a quick underhood check to make sure all components are present and accounted for...(the tough life of a project car), they were off to the dyno. The only major issue has been trying to find a streetable clutch capable of holding all the power. Once on the dyno, they did a few test runs at different boost levels to check if the clutch was up to the task. It performed much better than what was previously tested, but unfortunately, it still was slipping at higher boost levels. They were disappointed and frustrated since the manufacturer claimed the unit was capable of supporting the power levels they needed. But being that the Fireballed team are at the forefront of power development, they also bear the burden of testing and verifying products. Brian was able to massage the clutch and Hubie dialed the power back a bit and they were able to put down a respectable number considering that they left a lot on the table. But that's the fun part of tuning. There is always more to extract. Keeing that expectation in mind will ease of pain of having to swap clutches once again... 513WHP with slipping clutch............ I personally cant wait to convert to turbo only ![]() Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND BUT HOW WELL YOU SPEND IT Last edited by 1320autos : Jun 19th, 2007 at 05:05 PM. |
