Offline | Exhaust help needed for MINI ONE D. (Milltek etc) Hi guys. ![]() Well today I just had my Aero Kit fitted by Woodmans.... it looks great on my car and I'm really happy with it, so all is good on that front. HOWEVER... I have a small problem. Initially when I enquired about putting the kit on the D, the folks down at Woodman MINI said that they would be able to fit a chrome tail finisher on the exisitng exhaust, in order for the slash on the rear aero bumper to be filled properly. Unfortnatley though despite their best efforts, they could not get one to fit properly, and fill the space. ![]() So baisically I want to know what I can do next? I suppose I have a few options avliable?
I have emailed Milltek so see if they sell just the back box from their system, in the hope that I can fit that to the car, and solve the issue. However I'm not sure if I could fit that back box to the standard exaust system? Mini One D Performance Exhaust System from Milltek Sport Could I fit a backbox from say a Cooper, in the hope that I could then fill the gap? Or would my diesel's exaust be completely different? If anyone knows or any soloution I would be REALLY greatfull ![]() Sorry for all the questions guys, I'm just trying to sort this out... as you can see from the pics below, it does look rather silly at the moment... Regards, James. |

| MINI2 Master | Why not go the mufflerectomy route. I used to have a TDi Ibiza which was 190bhp and 340 lb/ft torque, and most of the guys on the site simply had a a custom made pipe from the turbo back, no boxes no cat, not needed. Sounded lovely and as most of the Tdi engines hate back pressure, helped performance too. Not sure if anyone has done it on the Mini's yet. lot cheaper only about 100 quid |

Offline | if you have ever seen a 406 coupe diesel you will notice the tailpipe sticks straight out like the petrol model,if you look closely you will notice the tailpipe is actually like yours, points down to take the diesel soot to the ground, but has a chrome tailpipe with the bottom cut out placed over the original, after a few miles you cant see the original pipe for the black soot inside the chrome part, hope this makes sense! buy a tail pipe trim cut the bottom out and place it over yours, job done, other manufacturers also do this with their sporty diesels cant remember what ones though |

Offline | Thanks for the helpfull posts guys. Much appreciated ![]() Well, an update on the situation... Milltek no longer make their exhaust system for the ONE D, and the only supplier who had any left was not able to sell just the back box. So thats that option out. Instead I'm having a back box custom fitted for the car, its been done by PowerFlow. The local supplier / dealer was really helpfull, and they have quoted me £160 - £170 for the job. I'm having one of their tail finishers put on the back box, so it should look ![]() One question though, with this new back box am I likely to see any increase in HP / Torque? The guy reckoned I might see a slight increase in midrange Torque? Regards, James. |

Offline | Fair enough, to be honest I wasnt expecting much in the way of power, after all its only a back box. If I wasnt short of money then I would probably go for a full decat system, but I want to sort the issue with the zaust quickly, because it looks frankly stupid at the moment... but then again, it would probably send my insurance sky high if I did a full decat. The guy that I spoke to today said pretty much the same as Ant FR did, that diesels hate back pressure, and that cats are a waste of time. Regards, James. |
