Hi Alex, tbh Im not sure,we have replaced a few JCW manifolds for GTT,but less JCW catbacks.
I havn't cut one apart to see whats happening ,but even with good straight through silencers that squashing on the late JCWs is not good. The car we have in does have the late 'squashed' JCW as it happens. One day I'll cut one in half lengthways to see whats going on.....they do seem alot quieter than other brands ..there must be something hidden, the silencers are tiny.
Best Regards Roland GTT

Mine isnt the one with the squashed section, so I figure its a bit better than the latter ones. Mine also isnt very quiet. The noise test for track days places me at 95-ish dB every time when I am being very careful not to rev it too much.

Cooper BRM has a 07 produced JCW manifold and cat back and it works well to acheive 100.99mph in the 1/4.

Hi GTT260,

Just wondering how you are finding your new clutch and flywheel combo in normal driving conditions? Is it ok in heavy traffic etc? Have you had to change your driving style at all e.g. more revs when pulling off?

When my clutch goes (hopefully no time soon) I would be thinking of uprating but just would be concerned about any negative impacts of doing so.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dibby.

The clutch is excellent. It takes a very small amount of getting used to, but when you do get used to it you remember how 'sloppy' the OEM clutch was. It's easy to use in traffic and you don't need many revs to keep it under control from a stand still in 1st.

It is far better than i anticipated, i was expecting a compromise of usability with performance, but for me they are both scoring a 9/10

I strongly recommend it. It may even be worth you upgrading your crank pulley to the lightweight GTT one, then you'll have removed nearly all of the unecessary weight from the system

Cheers,
Karl.

Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing...

Question My clutch about to expire?

Hi,

Just visited Roland too a few weeks ago - got the JCW package #1 + some other bits and pieces fitted to my '05 MCS JCW. Really liking it.

However, today I went to do some testing with my GTech gadget and the results were not at all what I expected. In fact I was struggling to make even the same 0-60 figures I was getting earlier, rather averaged 0,2-0,3 secs worse. For a moment I was really puzzled with this but after a few more trials I started to feel that especially between 4000-7000rpms the car was somehow stuggling and there were some odd noises too. Otherwise in normal driving the in-gear acceleration is really good still and it certainly feels rapid enough and faster than prior to my GTT visit.

Now I suspect that the clutch has started to slide under full throttle. It had already given some signs earlier (kind of whining noise when starting from stand still @ 1st gear).

But does this sound like sound about right given the symptoms? The car has been driven hard, but is it typical that the clutch would already expire at about 42,000km...? How often do you guys normally have to change the clutch...?

I am taking the car to BMW for oil change and will ask them to look into this as well. Basically should still have my warranty left, but with the mods I have done...well, we will see. If they do not want to change it to a new OEM part under warranty, I might go for the clutch & lightweight flywheel combo you Karl already installed...guess I better ask Roland for an offer

Cheers,
Sam
