| MINI2 Regular | Mth Over Priced Now??? hey peeps i recently noticed that the mth re map has gone up in price for no real reason. I was very interested in this re map! However i am faced with a situation. My mate can get me a re map done for 100 squid and its a mod specific map designed by the boys a jcw. The map is used by all the robert shaw boys and hence appears to be a great map. I am stuck as to which map to go for. Is the MTH really worth it any more. Please help me in making my decission as soon as possible!!! Many Thanks once again peeps ![]() V6 phl |

Offline | Yeah I agree that it is getting a bit pricey now. I got it on my car about 12 months ago for around AU$500-600 (can't remember the exact price) and now it sells for AU$750. It's still a good product (if you ignore their stupid power claims) but if I was doing it now I'd probably at least consider alternatives a lot more seriously than I did before. ![]() |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | Not really true.... The ECU can adapt a little but it is not designed to adjust to major performance changes in the engine. This has been hashed out over and over and yes, I know there are some vendors that believe that it is not needed. However, there are many more that firmly believe that it is needed. Just to give you an idea. I added a 15% pulley to my MINI and ran it without a remap for a few days. Every time I got out of the car, I smelled fuel. Not a good sign. After the remap, performance and drive ability increased there is no doubt about that and the fuel smell is gone. As for the choice between JCW and MTH. Yes, there have been changes in the MTH program. The cost has gone up a bit and any updates will cost you a bit more. Overall, they are still cheaper than most out there and in terms of what you get I think that it is still worth it. I can't speak on the JCW, especially if you are getting more of a custom tune. It sounds comparable to the MTH on that level and might well be worth it. Tough call.... Global Moderator ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | cheers guys i think i am goin for the jcw tune as the map will be tailored to my car ,well mod specific and is used on the race track so simply for the 200 squid price differance alone i think i will go for it. TOTALLY agree with DA FLAKE on the requirement on the re map!REALLY does make alot of differance especially smoothness and power distrubution. Has any one had a live map? |
