Cat Converter Removal

Anyone know +- how much power/torque I'll get out of removing the cat converter on my stock '03 Mini Cooper?

I live in a third world country, so no one minds

SA is hardly 3rd world

removal of the cat is good for a chunck of torque and few BHP. Not masses as the stock manifold is pretty naff but you will see some 'feelable' change

I know, SA's cool, I'm just being dramatic... lol. So think if I do the manifold too it'll be really noticable? I'm looking to do an induction kit, exhaust, cat removal, cams...can't wait!

I would suggest getting a manifold with a removable cat/de-cat pipe. If you can tolerate the extra noise along with an exhaust.

Hmm i think I might just do that...there's some pretty cheap ones on ebay! Does the standard Mini exhaust have 1 or 2 mufflers on it?

It has two in line at the back of the car. More power can be gained if you one-ball it. You can see the GTT pipe that shows how its done. It just cuts one of them out and replaces it with one bend, rather than several.

Not sure if there is a central resenator on the stock MCS exhaust. There is on my JCW exhaust.

i assume u will be heading towards 180 to 190 NM (torque ) with a reflash of your ecu and better flowing aftermarket exhaust system (f.ex a la Supersprint, miltek, alta, ....)

a friend of mine had the SS full exhaust system with metalic cat. converter and with reflash of ecu, was putting down +- 180 NM....

without CAT should be more NM , and loads more FUN....hehe... pop burble pop.... even with a COOPER.....

but grote broer koekeloer will be hearing u ....

Wow, that much? Nice..can't wait. It's going to be hard getting an aftermarket exhaust in SA though. Yeah it'll be NOISY, but it's a good thing in a way!
