Cool Gintani Tuned Mini!

Well I finally pulled the trigger on getting the Gintani Gintani after-cooler with integrated intake manifold.

This thing really looks trick! After reading all the intercooling threads and water injection, I decided to go this direction. I like the idea of getting rid of the intake horns. It's a direct route from the supercharger to the cylinder head. Also after talking to Randy Webb about the system I just had to get one!

While the car is there it's also being fitted with a custom Gintani Head, header and 3" exhuast. I didn't realize how much in-house work they do there. They have a bunch of after-cooler kits ready for install.

When everything is done they're also going to give me a custom dyno tune. Gintani has live software to emulate the ECU I can't wait until everything is done and get to take her out on the track and burn it up!

Thanks MINIAC for fixing the pics for me!

More Pics!!

Everyone likes looking at pics

Here are some pics of the 3" exhaust.

This 3" header is designed for TQ, not just max HP at high RPM

Does the exhaust use the 2 standard inner hangers (of the original systems 4 rear box hangers) to hang from or where they custom fitted? Won't 3" from header to tailpipe be a little too straight and free flow for a supercharger? My understanding is the charger required a bit more BP than a turbo ... or does retaining the cat give that?!

Not yet, almost. Gintani is installing a new dyno...Then comes the final ECU tuning.

The old exhaust (OBX header and Invidia) had too much back pressure for a proper tune. (the back pressure was tested) So this will clean it up a little, plus have room for a different charger in the future

Back pressure is not as important as most think ,the flow and pressure reflected pulse are the key ,the exhaust /manifold look to be a very good design ,the tips should give it a bit of a sporty sound.
It may be worth trying a cone insert in the end when on the dyno and see if it alters the power.
with so many changes to the air path ,intake, intercooler, manifold and exhaust it may prove necessary to play around with lengths and diameters a bit and get optimum air scavenging.
looking good though.
What cores did they use in the intake/cooler ? laminova?

Laminova patened a method for laser cutting very fine circular discs out of solid aluminium giving a large surface area in a compact tube this allows heat transfer from air passed over them to fluid inside them ,so far the best heat exchange method available .
they are available in lengths and a certain length can cope with a given horsepower (cfm of airflow) they are however expensive -probably as only one company can make them!!!

Chris.

Sorry Chris, I missed your post earlier.

Thanks for the comment. I know you can get the header, The exhaust is custom, but I'm sure they will build one and ship it if you were interested. Visit the website Gintani or call 818-804-4580

OR if you want to shoot me a PM I can find out for you

Good info, thanks! I don't see why I couldn't get the laminova rods in the future. Once I get the mini back it's probably going into the garage for the winter. I already pulled out my snowmobiles and started preping them for the upcoming race season.

Next summer I want to investigate the twin screw super charger route. I have the internals to hold whatever I throw at it, I was orinally going to do the nitrous route but now I'm not too sure I want to go that way anymore. (I already build a custom NX kit and installed everything nitrous injectors) I don't want to go the turbo route.

the manifold is built for a flat intercooler style not a round laminova rod style
it will have to be totally redesigned
