Surprisingly BRMCooper won with only 210BHP which means he won £210 courtesy of 1320autos, I’m sure all those who know they have more than 210BHP must be kicking themselves at they are reading this knowing they could of walked with more money than that. The formula we used for this event was BHP=(mph/230)x(mph/230)x(mph/230)x weight lbs Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND BUT HOW WELL YOU SPEND IT |

Offline | Well done Paul, for all your efforts, good to see the MINIS in action. Later on that day I got to thinking about the RPMs that people were launching at ? and could they be using too many rpms ? Other than the obvious shock loading on the driveshafts ,you know all about that!!! and the engine mounts -again not up to the job!! are there any real gains in very high rpm launches? it may sound contrary to accepted drag racing BUT;........ With the engine being supercharged , running up to say 5000rpm on the line ? the charger is creating a lot of heat ,the air is recirculating ,and off load Once the clutch is dumped the boost is instant and the heat built up released into the engine ,but there is little or no intercooler airflow at this point. the rapid temp increase must be seen by the ECU ,and would take some time to normalise tne temp (the intercooler to have forward speed to cool it for one ) Perhaps a lower launch rpm and the time holding the rpm at the line kept to a minimum actually produce quicker times and better terminals (nitrous excepted, charge cooler excepted) Turbo cars I can see the need to spool the turbo but s/charged cars far less so what rpm did people launch at? |

Offline | When i broke it i launched at 3k, i think it was the higher revs i had tried the previous afternoon that had the biggest impact on it. Also Adam thanks for your help also, will be on the phone for an engine damper later in the week |

Offline | I was disappointed not to be there TBH...but money was a major factor. Cooperslad .. I should not worry about breaking your car...Louis is always breaking.its in no way a reflection of the pressure dragging puts on the car LOL Just kidding Loui What was it box or driveshaft? R |

Offline | Well, we dont actually know how slow it is yet, as he has problems getting up the strip in one piece! ![]() I launch at 1500rpm, like going off a set of traffic lights. Seems to work okay and is no harder on the car than daily driving. I also have the full set of engine and gearbox mounts and the damper. The damper wasnt much use for two other peoples cars with facelift MCS mounts, as they both bent the brackets in the first week. Personaly, I would suggest doing the job properly, and getting the full Proflex mounts. |

| LOBSTER! | how quickly you launch doesent effect your end MPH, my quickest end mph i let the clutch bite and hammer it from there and my 60ft time was over 3 seconds! if you try and race the bloke beside you you can end up missing gears or damaging the motor thats why i just let the bloke go and race my own race, sometimes its good to have a bit of a race but when your gunning for a different prize (end mph) the lanuches dont really matter ..::14.21@100.99MPH::.. 15% Pulley, CAI, Mani, Back Box, GRS Intercooler |

Offline | It does make you wonder what a true 210 kit should consist off in the real world ![]() It was nice to have BigShow there as a bench mark with a std pulley, old type blower CAI and ex manifold / cat back which we know picked up 4bhp on our dyno. Also with Bhozar having an early JCW kit which produced 190 which like Roland says seems to be the norm for one oft them. I might book Graham from the Santa Pod tech crew again for the Ultimate BMW Show so we can have another real world dyno day. Offline | But it's also got the GTT/JCW stage 1 upgrade, GTT CAI, GTT manifold and a GRS intercooler. I'm suprised (and a little concerned!) that a JCW car with so many extras would only make 190bhp - is it definitely an accurate measure of bhp? |

Offline | Oh I didn't realise it had that lot. Its pretty basic but accurate, though there are and I have a few programs which take everything to account. By moving the 230 number around I can get it to reproduce what wwe see on our rolling road. But we have to remember that all cars run on the same day in the same conditions and sometimes against each other, so then we have to look at the difference between them with BigShow as a bench mark Bhozar made 17bhp more than him, BRMCooper made 37bhp more than BigShow and 20bhp more than Bhozar. This is why we arranged the competion like this, as there would be no advantage turning up in a strpped out carbon panelled Mini weighing 2200lbs.
