My first step is to improve the air intake to my MCS.

Has anybody used the K & N panel filter? did you see improvements? does this effect the insurance?

What are the effects on insurance if I were to fit the K & N typhoon high air flow kit?

i recently fitted the typhoon and because i allready had a few mods on the policy there was no increase in premium at all

I've got a pipercross panel filter on mine and with all my other mods my policy only went up about £30...

I think it's a sensible mod as keeps an OEM look of the engine.. and makes a slight improvement.. aids my full exhaust system...

I fitted a BMC panel filter, which I can imagine is similar to a K&N, you can feel a slight difference (and mine is only a Cooper!) and is more secretive than doing a whole induction kit (which probably won't get you that much more power.) You can feel it- won't make as much noise, but performance wise it's on par.

Had the KN panel in my S. No insurance change as its a panel filter and not an induction modification.

Noticed some, very slight, throttle response improvement (very very slight though) and a tiny fraction change in charger whine. Power was negligable to nothing.

I have an alta intake, milltek manifold and reduced pulley and the insurance went up by only £150
