That's one mother of a turbo for such a small engine!

probably would make the power at high enough boost, but by the time that has spooled up the world and his dog would have passed you

You're getting the 340 mixed up with the 400. The 340 has very little turbo lag.

No the 300-320 has hardly any lag the 340 and the 360 both suffered from bad lag from what I hear. I might be wrong but I was sure that a friend of mine who now has a 340 said that when he drove the 320 it was great from the GO but his 340 suffers badly when he plants it in the wrong gear. PS I'm on about the Evo IX (not sure if previous gens had FQ numbers?)

Is there a 400 (is it the MR FQ car ... is that the 400?)

The range is as follows:

VIII FQ300 and FQ330
VIII MR FQ300, FQ320, FQ340 and FQ400
IX FQ300, FQ320, FQ340 and FQ360
IX MR FQ360

The 340 and 360 are remapped cars (well piggy-back Unichip in the case of the VIII MR FQ340) and don't suffer from lag any more than a 300 or 320. The 400 is a different kettle of fish altogether.

And back on-topic...

i love how people see a turbo and think its going to lag like hell! first you need to know what turbo it is!

so come on 1320, what turbo is it? GT28r? GT30r?? GT35r?? cant tell form the pick. also do you think there would be room to do a twin scroll (alos known as a divided) manifold??? these are just starting to come into the Evo market and people are loving them. much quicker throttle responce & reduced lag form the same turbo.

also are you ditching the supercharger or keeping it? what you doing for intercooling?

looks an interesting project.

Chris.

Looks like a GT28 76R....this is the only one Garrett say is able to flow enough air to produce 480hp. Recommended for 1.8 to 3 Litre engines....your gonna need Nitrous to get it to work properly . The .64 A/R Turbine Housing version will help a bit on torque but the (very laggy ).86 AR is needed for 480hp. Turbine eficiency of 62 % is a bit low on these too. (Not to be confused with Compressor efficiency...these get upto 80% . On its own yep about 9000rpm at least. For a road car its gonna be 'orible.
Unfortunaly theres alot more to it than bolting a manifold & turbo on with 2 nuts
Even as a drag car theres plenty to do.
Reminds me of Mad Max ,except he had a huge SC sticking out the top of the bonnet.
Best Regards Roland GTT

LOL

I find carbon fibre does it for my 565bhp monster

I think that each to thier own...I have seen the GT300 and its awesome...not sure its for me though. Same as I'm not fully sure that the twin charged route is for me either. TBH the most I'll ever want is 240-260ish as thats generally enough to blow 90% of scoobys off the track
