re mapping feedback

Heyy

I had my cooper s re mapped at the weekend and wasnt sure what to make of the car afterwards.I think i was expecting power gains but i was disapointed as far as this area goes. It did allow the car to run much more smoothly ,but as for power i dont think there was any change at all.

Mods on the car are:

manifold and de cat
Alta induction kit
alta 15%pulley
miltek cat back exhaust.

I no the main reason of a re map is to allow the ecu to aknowledge all of the mods but i was just wanting to no what others have found after re mapping??

Many Thanks

Phil

Never been sold on maps making a big difference to power on the MINI. I feel that on the S the power is from the mods...specifically the breathing (filter and manifold) and increasing boost mods (pulleys, cranks, bypass). The map will never give much power IMO...just possibly on some unfortunate cars a map change is nessesary if it suffers from pinking, flat spots etc. I am lucky and mine has a loverly smooth power and torque curve despite being a stock map!

Hi Phil,

Once i had this done it made a great improvement over how the car feels and drives i was impressed with the result not sure whats going on with yours. I saw yours getting done at the track on sunday.

The map is a JCW map with a "MINI Challenge" tweak from a MINI Challenge team, i have the same map.

As Roland pointed out, we don't know what type of map it is. Some are more aggressive than others.

Also, you should be getting a map to trim your car out, not add hp. If you get hp then that is a good side affect of it.

Hey scotty!
As mentioned by scotty its a JCW map with a mini challenge tweek here and there to compensate for various mods.

I was really disapointed the only differance i have found is that there is much more back fire then before, and prahaps it runs much more smoothly but besides that definatelly no more power. u will have to try it scotty see what you think.

Might have to get her on the rollers and see how she is running.

The manifold was still the best mod to date noticed straight away big power gains

scotty have you changed your injectors as i havent and prahaps thats the differance??

Butt dynos never yield results. If you don't put it on a Dyno before and after, you will never know the truth. Also, re-maps are not for power but rather for trimming out the car. Power is a side affect of it and will vary from car to car. Lastly, as I mentioned before, the JCW map is not the best on the market and you can get more power if you go with a more custom tune but you will pay for that.

Every JCW car that I have driven felt flat....
