United-Kingdom Booked in @ Lohen, dilema

So im bookd in at Lohen on the 10th with my checkmate for:

- Alta Supercharger pulley Version 2.0
- Reduced supercharger belt
- Iridium spark plugs

Im also going to ask them to fit a JCW airbox system im ordering tomorrow from my Mini Dealer (hopefully they will fit it for me) im also going to remove the flap after reading a post about doing it, it sounds like a good idea. Any thoughts?

Anyway, ive read so much on here about mods, pullys, remaps etc my brain is melting...

Main question is, Should i take the option of Superchips Bluefin with custom Lohen map or not, some say yes, some say no?? or any other good or better ideas while in there..

My checkmate is at 170bhp stock i assume, im hoping for a nice gain in performance..

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with the bluefin and save the money towards an intercooler. Its not needed

I agree with what they said... I've got the pulley and belt... Didn't bother with the Bluefin... or the Denso Spark plugs...

I have the minisport bluefin to suit the smaller pulley. Im going down to gtt on friday and roland is going to try different maps to see which is best for my car. He doesnt reccomend bluefin so i am changing it. On the other hand ive had the pulley and bluefin along with a long list of other mods and nothing has ever gone wrong with my car. Ive done 10000 miles since the pulley and bluefin mod.
I just get paranoid with the bluefin at WOT because there are a few peoples cars on here that have gone bang. I would rather have peace of mind when thrashing the car so im having bigger injectors fitted with gtt manifold also.

Wouldnt bother with the JCW filter... add the Alta from the lads at Lohen.. far better product for around the same price..

The Remap will help and if your planing on further mods to the engine then you may as well get it now than later... you'll notice the response as soon as you jump back into the car

Main reason im going for the JCW airbox is im trying to maintain a stock look in the engine bay and also ive had bad experiances with every open cai kit ive ever had.. also im paranoid about my warranty.

Im planning on various things in the future so instead of the bluefin am i better going for the Superchips VSpire Remap from Lohen??

Superchips VSpire Remap = never heard of it.. I opted for the bluefin and never looked back

you can get the Alta Lid for the filter

Alta Mini Performance - Induction

Lohen would be able to obtain one for you..

the filter wont effect the warranty in any way.. they just dont replace it at the service intervals.

that does look nice, you have me thinking now there mate.

the vspire map is just lohens version, as i understand it basically the same just with a laptop and not a diy job...

ive read a lot of posts that say remap's are pointless dont really wanna spend £300 for nothing.

Another remap that has good feedback is the MTH which is available from essential mini. I have the alta cai and it sounds amazing

I'd personally avoid the remap if you can and get an intercooler and injectors to safe guard the engine at higher revs with WOT. If you want a remap only way I'd go is a custom map.

Check for pinking to make sure you aren't going to blow it up to be on safe side to.

What pulley you going for 15% or 17%?

I'd cancel your JCW filter order and get a GTT or alta unit - Cheeper and better

If its a 15% pulley don't get the map and buy a GRS intercooler from Lohen with the airbox and bluefin money.

Defo get the colder range spark plugs but get the NGK ones from Sparkplugs UK - Champion, Denso, Beru and NGK sparkplug suppliers as they are £27 delivered and last longer thanthe denso irridium ones.

Good luck and enjoy

what about this comment

"we include a remap to suit, specifically designed for the LCS1, which increases fuelling to match, therefore maintaining the balance between the air/fuel ratio throughout the entire rev range."

Its not needed, plenty of GTT conversions out there with no remap!

I think people undermine how the ECU works

What do you prefer about the JCW airbox?

I would avoid the Remap altogether. Only remap I'd touch would be one thats been made specifically for my car.

4 best things you can do to stop your car blowing up, Good high octane fuel (V Power), intercooler, colder plugs (Lohen got me the NGK ones) and bigger fuel injectors.

I'd be intrested in why you want the JCW airbox, as for the money there is much better and nicer out there.

Can I also advice think about how your driving your car, i.e. not letting the car idle for 10 minutes building up heat and then giving it the beans!

For example, a 10 minute stint on the motorway with air gushing through the scoop would be ideal, obvisouly you arnt going to drive down your nearest motorway just so you can overtake that granny in her clio down the bypass.

Sorry, that advice now sounds nuts but maybe some people will understand what I mean

if the idea behind the jcw box is to remain stealth to your dealer, then their is no point having the remap for mods, as if they reflash you will loose it, if you tell them about mods you neednt pay extra for jcw to apppear stock,
sort of a contradiction here
