Not sure if there is any actual adjustment on it but may unscrew all the rear mounts and put 2 or 3 washers under themand retighten so the wholelot will hang 5mm further down!

Like scotty says. I have the same issue. Its not so bad now as the exhaust has gotten so hot that is melted away the rear valance where it touches LOL

Im also having problems with my milltek. It moves completely to the left after 10+ mins of driving. I can move it from side to side. Hopefully getting it fixed tommorow.

Lucachiarelli,

How did you get on with getting your Milltek fixed? I've got the same issue (not lining up correctly in the centre of the rear bumper) how did they fix it?

Thanks

I had the same issue and just pushed it away from the valance by hand slightly and it has stopped vibrating, you only need to move it a few mm so a slight push is all thats needed

Hi Dibby, I took it back to where i got it fitted. They said the clamps that hold the back boxes up werent very strong and did not fit correctly. He said that he bent the clamps as much as he could so that it would keep still. Ive driven it for a week since and had no problems at all. He did say that if the problem came back he would make me up some stronger clamps that fit perfectly. He also said he has stopped dealing with milltek as their exhaust do not fit cars perfectly as they always need adjusting.
Take your car down to any exhaust specialist and they will sort it out for you. I only paid £8 which seems pretty reasonable to me.
Hope this helps

I could push the exhaust back to the centre but as soon as the exhaust got hot it moved off centre. Very annoying having to move the exhaust to the centre after every 20 min+ drive

Hi i took my car to dms in burnley. It used to be top gear. Theyre very good with exhausts as they make their own custom powerflow exhausts and can supply many other exhaust systems such as milltek. Theyre off J9 m65 burnley.
Got any pics of your mini? As i am over in bolton quite alot so i can look out for yours. I always have to drive to bolton to get Shell V power as its the closest shell garage to me.

Hi guys ,we see Milteks that sit too high/knock/dont sit central alot. This is partly a small design fault but tbh most professional fitters should be able to get round it....clearly few can be bothered to. A pity as is a fine cat back. When we fit we use 8 spacers to space it down a few mm. We also use jubilee clips on the hanger pegs to centralise and prevent left/right movement. -Takes longer but definatly worth it. Unfortunatly to space down 'after' someones fitted it too high means taking the whole lot off again....

Yes, I had this problem.

Although, it may still be worth taking further precaution as my tips have still melted the valance slightly.

Roland, what width and diameter spacers did you use? Also which mounts did you put them on?

Cheers

Roland, I'd be keen to know this as well, as going to have a go fitting one soon.

Cheers

Its the 8 vertical bolts in the boot floor, the studs are long enough to accept about an 6mm drop if required.
Having fittem may exhausts I would say the Miltek is a top one if fitted correctly.

I used 3 chunky washers under each bolt to space the cars exhaust mounts lower and all is fine.

I put a jubilee clip on one of the far hanger brackets (I think the left one if your facing the back of the Mini) to pull the exhaust across plus lowered it 5-6mm with 4 spacers after having the exhaust fitted. Put the clip through a slot on the floor and around the bracket.

Put the stock exhaust back on is nightmare in the driveway on axle stands.

Thank's guys I'll give it a go.

The milltek instructions say "Smear a small amount of exhaust assembly paste inside each slotted joint, this will help prevent leaks on start-up and prevent the pipes seizing together."

Which are the slotted joints, does this mean round the gaskets, or around the pipe on the mid section that doesn't have a gasket. Should I use it on the gaskets also?

Thanks

Nick

Yep on the manifold use wet and dry paper to clean the surface then put the paste onto both surfaces to make sure the gasket is completely covered. The paste will harden once the exhaust heats up.
