![]() The Muffin Man | Post Facelift R50 Gearbox... Quick question... Im looking to change my current MINI for a post facelift 1st Gen. Now I dont want another MINI with the Midland gearbox. I believe the Getrag box was put into production in 2004. So do all 04 plates have the Getrag? Or do some 04 plates have the Midland and some the Getrag, but all 54 plates and onwards have the Getrag? If the getrag was put into production during the middle of the cycle of one plate it would be helpful if somebody knew the exact month so i could look for models built after then? Just want to make sure I buy another Midland-Boxed-Heap, not ad much luck with mine ![]() Thank you Dan ![]() |

| Bangers & mash with chips | As MB states, the new gearbox came in with the facelift so they should all be on 54 plate or later. Thats not to say some un-reged post-facelift won't be regged as a 54. But if its got the revised bumpers/lights/clock in the speedo etc its got the new gearbox. They will also have the revised grille with only 3 slats not 4, and the smooth surround. They were available before November though, as mine was registered in October. When I went for a test drive back in August 04, I had to do so in the convertible as at that point the dealers were not allowing test drives with the old box-ed cars but didn't have any of the revised hatches in. Another bonus is that you can get them in the superb BEP colour ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Bangers & mash with chips | That must be one of the few registered in August on an 04. I'd have thought most would have been tempted to wait a few days/weeks for the much more desirable 54 plate at the start of September ![]() Its a brilliant colour. It works extremely well with the white roof, wheels and mirrors. I'll be sorry to see mine go ![]() |
