| I'm avin 'oops | ok sounds basic i know but....... when you turn the igition on one of the lights that comes on is the oil light when you stall a car one of the lights that comes on is the oil light I suspect that your car is on the verge of stalling as you have the induction kit fitted normally your car will learn the new settings of the induction kit but it should only take about 30 minutes how long has this been happening? check all your connections ![]() More Air + More Fuel = More Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Offline | Hi Specky, The possible causes are: 1: Faulty oil pressure switch. This is located on your filter housing. 3: Engine wear. What is your engine mileage? Oil pressure is a measure of resistance to flow. As your engine bearings wear the oil pressure drops because of larger bearing gaps. This is not an indication that less oil is flowing, just the pressure required to pump the oil has fallen. 3: When your engine was serviced it was replaced by oil a lower viscosity (changing from say 0-40 to 0-30 could cause this). . 4: You've been ragging your engine harder since you fitted the filter, getting it hotter, so an engine with already marginal oil pressure is now showing on the light. This is because oil viscosity reduces with temperature. 5: Low engine oil, below the sump pickup pipe - you've said this has been checked. Remember, as I said at the start, lower oil pressure does not mean less oil flowing through your bearings, it means there has been a reduction in the resistance to the oil flow round the engine for one of the above reasons (except 5). Edited to say, Nath316 has good point - idle speed dropped subsequent to filter kit. Hope this helps. Kev. |

| MINI2 Regular | you said faulty oil pressure switch, is that the bit that clipped onto the old filter housing on the right??? in two clips?? cos that was moved as the new kit obvouilsy doesnt have a clip so i cable tied it to the mainframe tidily, but it couldve resulted in loose connection. WIll check that!!! |

Offline | I don't think checking the oil spec will help, cos you don't know what it had in before. My line of thinking was that if your engine was high mileage, it had previously been filled with a higher viscosity oil to stop the light showing then when you went back to the correct oil the light came back on. Your car is low mileage though so less inclined to think it is this or engine wear. From what you've said, I'd look at Nath316 line of thinking first. When the light is on, is the idle speed low? Is the engine hunting and struggling to tick over? Then, if it is low tickover speed, when you increase the rev's to normal tickover speed does the light go out? Yes, that's the switch. Worth removing connection, cleaning and putting back on. |

| MINI2 Regular | engines not struggling at all, still smooth at tickover, but slightest touch on throttle the light goes out which supports his theory, ill try again today see how it goes, as i said it didnt do it last night, so it might have just been gettin used to it yesterday afternoon on the run, thanks for your help and time anyway, |

Offline | Sounds a bit drastic but you could put the OEM airbox back on and see if its still happening then you would know if its the CAI thats causing the problem. |
