Offline | Exhausted Cooper S I was about to order a JCW cat-back today and I'm starting to have second thoughts, should I go for a Miltek instead. Has anyone changed from JCW to miltek? Couple people have said to go for Miltek instead? What should I do? |

Offline | Well considering price ... I'd say milly everytime. JCW catback is something in the line of £900 for part/s and milly can be obtained for nearer £350 now! Milly is nicer noise too as JCW can (and I emphasise can) sound raspy and crackly instead of nice deep roar. It all depends on manifolds, decats etc etc... but even then I'd pick my Milly over 99% of JCW catback combi set-ups |

Offline | Has to be the Milly. I'll have a look at that one. Going for manifold once I get a couple of other things of it. Not more decisions GTT, milltek, Janspeed, etc. :But anyone explain the need for the two backboxes since Alta only have one and GTT produce re route pipe to take one away? |

| Banned | Not sure why one of the back boxes is removed. The gtt one can only be used with the standard catback i think. Ive had the milltek on for 12000 miles with no probs. In terms of manifold get the gtt as janspeed developed it for gtt and say its better than theirs. It has better welding(tig), freer flowing cat 120cpi i think and it has a removable cat. Oh yeah and it made my car sound like a proper little race car ![]() |

Offline | Hi , for minimum restriction (all other things being equal). In order of preference 1) Two boxes in parrellel (Miltek, Janspeed) 2) One Box (Janspeed or Stock c/w GTT Re Route) 3) Two boxes in series (Stock) Because things are 'not equal ' , we find the JCW for example builds alot of back pressure compared to others. This is partly the squashed pipe deign, partly the diametr of the system, and probably the internal designs of the boxes. .....Just think of resistors in series and resistors in parrellel. Best Regards Roland GTT ![]() |

Offline | Roland2003 Would you know how to get the Tips centralised on a Milly and what type spacers to use to lower the the exhaust, eg washers? Last edited by Hugo : Sep 28th, 2007 at 10:43 AM. |

| GP 06 MCS 0380 | What about the motorsport catback system? Does it build up too much back pressure? I would agree with you my JCW setup when cold and you hit 3000rpm makes a wild raspy sound, i describe it like a saxophone being played badly, but only when cold. Something else ive noticed is when cold and you leave car idling stationary, water starts spitting out the back, quite alot of water. I question does my JCW hold water in the silencers. Anyone else get this??? Also at idle at traffic lights I can hear a rattle, sounds like its coming from exhaust but cant find anything loose. Baffles seem intact. The more miles ive on it I find it doesnt pop as much as it used to. Does pop much louder than the GP when it does tho. ![]() |

Offline | See you mean Roland, the car is getting up the rev range easier and faster especially from 4,000RPM. Over the moon, for some reason my mpg is below 26mpg ![]() . getting it lined up at the minute. Can't wait for Mani and pulleys......... More power.......... more popping. Went to fit spark plugs........ need 14mm extra long socket........ back to get more things. ![]() Last edited by Hugo : Sep 28th, 2007 at 08:53 PM. |

Offline | Check the resonator - first box back from the CAT - as thats where mine went. Inner pipe came unwelded. It was a good excuse to get a new Manifold from Roland . I've had the offending part removed and a straight pipe welded in place ![]() |
