DIY Tuning Advise please!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi one and all

I have a std cooper s (engine wise), and as with most owners looking for more performance. been reading lots of threads and looking at many tuners web pages, now big headache!!
Looking at changing the pulley, the questions are what size? push on or bolt on? also to remap or not? looking for advise/experience

Cheers

I would say 15% reduced with belt to suit... The Alta v2 is very good... Wouldn't bother with a remap...

That's what I have fiited and I'm pleased...

I started with the 15% pulley, bluefin map and alta cai. Ive had 12000 trouble free miles since the conversion.
For some professional advice and pricing, phone:

These are all very good with the new mini.

I'd advise a 15% reduced pulley with new belt, sparkplugs, hi flow panel filter (get a cold air intake if you don't mind the extra noise) and a manifold/sports cat/decat (only get manifold if you don't mind incresed noise)

If you fancy a better intercooler then I would say then get a 17% pulley not a 15%, unless drag racing then stick with 15%

Forgot about new plugs. these are very important. I have the john cooper works ones. As they are the right heat range for the 15% pulley.

I know...what can I say. It seems that the smaller 15% reduction pulley delivers better consistant power runs and strip runs. However having driven a 17% on the road and my 15% on the road I have to say the 17 seems to have the edge in mid/high rpm range @ higher speeds. I am assuming (as stated before) that this is because the 17% can eventually get cool enough at higher speeds to start delivering the extra power it can through generating higher boost levels). I'm not mechanic but if you don't have an intercooler don't go to 17% IMO as the stock one really really struggles (I should know ) even on the 11 and 15% pulleys available on the market so on a 17% is really will be cooking brakfast in seconds of firing up!

So can I conclude that 17% pulley would be best for the road as well as fitting a larger Intercooler? what about a remap?

Seeing as you're in Dorset you probably would be better going to GTT as they are in your county, personally I would go for the 15% as seen on the other thread.
