Lohen More Expensive Than Competitors?

Does anybody else think that Lohen charge high prices on almost all of their products?

My friend [Crammy] who lives in the same town as me, bought his Milltek Cat-Back System for £335 from Lohen..
Lohen.co.uk - Track & Fast Road Performance for your New Mini - Online Shop

I went to a performance Parts Supplier who deals a few performance parts for Minis, Nothing special, and bought the exact same Milltek Cat-Back System [in the shop, not over the internet so it wasnt an internet price] for £232.65 INCLUDING v.a.t, i know this is a very cheap price and the salesman admitted this, but the RRP is still £286

Koni FSD Shock absorbers - LOHEN - £449 inc vat -

Lohen.co.uk - Track & Fast Road Performance for your New Mini - Online Shop <--- 3rd product down

Koni FSD Shock absorbers - AWESOMEGTI - £299 + vat - about £350 <---- took 30 seconds to find a cheaper price:::

Awesome GTI Store UK - BMW Mini Suspension Upgrades <-- 8th product down

Ultra Brighter Headlight Bulbs. - LOHEN - £30.00 -
Lohen.co.uk - Track & Fast Road Performance for your New Mini - Online Shop

Ultra Brighter Headlight Bulbs. -ebay SHOP [not auction, from sellers with 1000+ sales] - £10.00

The list of highly priced products on lohen is extensive..
Even if they are well known, is it worth paying the mark up on the price when there are identical alternatives at cheaper prices from very safe sellers?

£330 is really cheap for a Milltek catback, I'm sure they are selling it for over £500 on there website?

I was chuffed to get mine for £414 delivered

Its not fare comparing ebay prices either

I've also been comparing prices on their coilovers as I'll be getting some soon from themselves or at least they will be fitting them for me and they are very competitive.

Very harsh thread title IMO

Not going to comment on Lohen's pricing policy, (it is none of my business how they run theirs). I have used Lohen in the past and would count myself as a happy customer, who would happily recommend their services.

The only time you could possibly make accusations of Lohen taking advantage is if they were the only company selling these products, and they were hiking up their prices due to that. But they are not, as you said in your post it "took 30 seconds to find a cheaper price". So buy this stuff from the cheaper suppliers, your choice. Free trade is a wonderful thing.

Speaking to Bhozar last friday, he was quoted 2 hours labour for a job and it took them 5 and was only charged for 2 hours

that is very fair!

imao there is no ripping off involved, unless substandard goods are supplied or they charge more than their stated price. Otherwise tough-buns... if its cheaper elsewhere maybe you should shop around more. You can't expect business to be run like charities or to do ypur donkey work for you. People would moan about price fixing if everyones price was the same...

Yes thats the wonderful world off the internet.

Awsome GTI get awsome discounts due to the volume they sell.

You cant blame any company when they are on a totally different discount structure due to specialising in the Mini.

IMO the extra £99 is worth it just for the extra knowledge you would have passed on to your Mini in making it handle.

Shop around for most products sold by most companies and you'll get better deals, especially from high volume/knock down price specialists. But it isn't ALWAYS best to get the cheapest option. Plus sometimes you will find X company charges more for the whirlygig but Y company charges more for the bibblybob and squirnledrive. A few years ago I built a PC and ordered most parts from one supplier, but for several other components they were beaten by some margin by other companies. Always pays to shop around and get some advice.

You've got to look from our point of view as well Arvin,I dont know if you have a trade or any of your family has a business but if they have they will explain it to you how hard it is.

Unfortunaltley now you can run a performance parts business from your bedroom with no overheads insurance stock etc etc being able to do this makes a lot of difference to what margin you need to make a profit. (one of our customers got ripped off by one of these companies)

I suppose it depends whether you think volume or customer satisfaction ic a priority.
