Very sick mini help plz

Hi everyone. My cooper s today has put the eml light on aswel as picture above it and traction control light. It happens when i rev over 4500rpm. Its an 06 mcs. Its has pulley 15% with reduced belt, spark plugs(jcw), Milltek catback, bluefin, alta cai and gtt intercooler. The light came on last week and the car wouldnt rev properly so i pulled over and switched it on then off and the EML light went off but the traction control light stayed on aswel as the picture of the engine light. The mods i have listed have been on the car for a year. I have had no problems like this before. The only recent mods i have done are modified bypass valve, manifold with cat, lighweight crank pulley and a bbk.
Today i put my foot down in second (not to redline) and eml, engine light and traction control light came on, so i pulled over again and switched the car off and on and the eml light went off so i could drive the car normally . But i still had the engine light and traction control light on.
I took the car out five mins ago and all three lights came on twice in the space of 5 minutes.
Sorry about the long story but im best giving as much detail as possible.
What can i do?

Your TMap sensor has gone by the sounds of things - the symptoms you describe are exactly what happen!

If if just started suddenly/randomly, then it is most probably that. Not too bad though, only £25 from the stealers but if it's damaged, makes the car die completely

Cheers,

Henry

There's no need - just replace the sensor and the light should go out after a few starts, but resetting expedites the process.

Yes it sound like the tmap sensor, it reads inlet boost pressure and temp, easy to fit, its the black small box like thing in the front edge of your inlet manifold above the radiator.

Hi,

The car is going into limp mode. There are many, many things that could be causing this to happen. Any number of sensor failures can cause this, for example I have had this happen on my car with a boost pressure sensor failure.

What you need to do is get it to a garage where they have the software to download the error codes, and find out exactly what it is.

DO NOT simply replace the Tmap sensor. It could be the Tmap sensor, but equally it may not be. There are lots of things that can cause these exact symptoms. The map sensor is one of the commonest, but not the only one. If you replace the Tmap sensor it will not fix it if is another sensor failure, and you will have wasted your money.

It will take a workshop with the proper reader 1 minute to download the codes, and work out exactly what has caused the problem.

Cheers

Robbo

Hi Luka, Yes,Sounds like the T Map sensor Part number 12 140 872 679. About £20+vat ,change it yourself in around 3 minutes......Located in the front of the inlet manifold right at the front above the rad, unplug the connector ,and undo the 2 torx screws and slide out. No need to reset anything ,just replace & go.
Best Regards Roland GTT

Follow the right intercooler arm(when stood infront of the car) around onto the inlet manifold and its right there infront of you. The black square'ish piece of plastic with 2 torq screws and a plug on. 2second change for you

Just got back from dealers.
These are the exact words from the technicians report.
"1.Call up fault memories, found fault in DME. Called up wiring diagram.
2.Visual check wiring found air pressure sensor connector wiring chaffed againstaftermarket airbox. NOT WARRANTY"
The guy said that the wiring doesnt need replacing it can be repaired but will be an hour and a halfs labour. So he wants to charge me £135 inc vat.
I have the alta induction kit and it was fitted at a mini specialist. Are they to blame?

Can you not repair the wires yourself mate? that seems a bit extreme a price to repair something thats in view. can you see the proble and take a pic of the damage?

Wires wearing through and causing earthing to the chassis is very common..... I even found another two today on my MINI! grrrrrr! The cheap fix is heat shrink or some good insulation tape.

Here are some pics of the wires. Not very clear.
Will insulation tape sort it out?
