Offline | Make My Cooper go faster Please I'm thinking of making our cooper go a little faster. I dont at this stage want to go the whole hog with exhausts etc, although I may consider that option (JCW SOUND KIT?) Also i dont want to invalidate the warranty i have left (2 years) From what i've read there seems plenty for Ones and MCS but not a lot for my Coop. Any opinions / assistance gratefully received. Thank You, Mark. ![]() ![]() Modern Mini Mag Oscars 2008 "Spirit of MINI Ownership" nominee |

| Trained Monkey | Pretty much anything for the One will work with the Cooper, but the One gets more dramatic gains (it is basically a de-tuned Cooper unit) so the One gets more publicity and chat about power boosting. If you go aftermarket, so anything not MINI approved, you run a warranty risk. How real that risk is is open to debate, but the part you change will (obviously) not be warranted by MINI, and possibly directly attached or related other components. Most common options are chip tuning, as they're more discrete and easier to reverse than, for example, changing your exhaust or intake. There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | Does that mean then that I could get some worthwhile gain from say a blufin and would i get any extra from a JCW sound kit? as the JCW kit would i assume be covered by the warranty ![]() Modern Mini Mag Oscars 2008 "Spirit of MINI Ownership" nominee |

Offline | Thanks for that, Its kinda the way i was already thinking, but not 100%, 10bhp or so from blufin doesnt sound a lot tho, but its a start, The soundkit only comes into play because A) it sound great and B) I can then put JCW badge on the boot hehehehe, and it looks great when you open the bonnet too. ![]() Modern Mini Mag Oscars 2008 "Spirit of MINI Ownership" nominee |

Offline | Well pleased with mine too, but you only really appreciate it from inside the car. Haven't noticed any real power improvement but it has definitely 'smoothed' the engine's response when the right foot gets pushed down If it wasn't a warranty issue I'd have gone for the Play Mini exhaust and probably an open cone type filter. Good luck with what ever you choose. |

Online | If you want simple plug and play without too much/no noise then a bluefin is best bang for buck mod on the MINI one. Then a closed cold air intake and a manifold. TBH thats about as far as you need to go on the Cooper/ONE as it all gets a lot more expensive after that...and for not a lot of HP IMO |

Offline | [quote=BigShow;3186222]Get yer wallet out son! ![]() quote] Aw Cant I use yours!! Seriously guys, Thanks for all of your input, You've pretty much echoed the thoughts swirling around my grey matter already. Which is re-assuring for me at least i feel better when I take the plunge. Blufin and sound kit it it then. Still not sure wether the rest of the Lohen package os worth it, but then again its not that much more anyway, just does anyone know if the plugs n filter make a difference? ![]() ![]() Modern Mini Mag Oscars 2008 "Spirit of MINI Ownership" nominee |

| Tunnel Runner | Lol... there's nothing but moths in it now after 3.5k's worth of upgrades this month! Whatever you do it'll be worth it, I can highly recomend Lohen though and if they say it'll give you 10bhp i'd believe them. Plus, the plugs and filter can only help. MiniTorque.com |

Offline | Erm.. I looked in to doing this myself and I was told that a Bluefin wouldn't work if it finds a "non-standard" map when you plug it in. So Bluefin after a Sound Kit Map has been uploaded is probably not possible. I'm still considering the Sound kit followed up (eventually) by a remap from MTH though. ![]() |

Offline | I sent an email to Superchips about this, and the matter of whether the Blufin stores your map or has it's own built in "standard" map for when you reverse the process. The reply was that the Blufin will just remove and reinstall whatever map was on the car when you intall the Blufin. The only thing I will say is the response did look suspiciously automated. I run a JCW sound kit, which I love, with the JC Motorsport open cone filter. Sounds amazing, but I do wish JCW/MINI had had the balls to up the car to 130bhp with it. Don't forget that Superchips offer their own warranty with the Blufin. They claim never to have used it, but there is a clause in the words about the policy being voided by other modifications. ![]() MODERN MINI - BEST COOPER NOMINEE - PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!!! |

Offline | I'm sure I read on here (somehwere) that Lohen said it wouldn't work. Ah, no matter - still think that the MTH map would get the best out of the Sound kit parts anyway, I've no longer any warranty issues to consider so the reversible mapping isn't a concern. |
