Tried it in the Cooper for a bit of a giggle

Heavy Convertible (roof up to aid aerodynamics), Full tank of fuel (filled up 10 minutes previous), Tesco 99 (The Minxs' usual diet), sat at a steady 30 and floored it. Wheels are 215/40/R17 run at 35psi....Did two runs up and down the same dual carriageway and were in 0.2s of each other.

Average = 9.2s

Just recorded on the milk / sandwich run

1st 6.95
2nd 6.95
3rd 6.71

We first recorded the rpm at 30mph on the dyno which was 2680rpm so 70mph comes out at 6253rpm this is on 205/50-15 with an 05 gearbox.

Engine is std 03 with Janspeed manifold and Borla Cooper exhaust.

164bhp per ton

Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02

So around 6.8 mark for a completely standard engine except manifold/exhaust? Not bad... Did you find the manifold gave better performance or worse?

Perhaps my bypass valve actuator is faulty - this may have happened since my conversion in Feb? I've changed my T Map sensor again recently and I've checked my I/C boots for leaks - they seem to be fine....................hmmm.

Can someone tell me where I can get a map sensor thing mentioned above ^^

Cheers,

I'm the same... steady 30 then boot it and click at the same time. I have to say after doing it a few times my car seemed to pick up alot faster.

Last night it was pulling so hard with the new manifold and pinning me in the seat big time but the GPS was no way fast enough to keep up.

I would get it checked with an ODB2 reader and a rolling road. Can only really be bypass-valve, boost leak somewhere, T-map giving false readings, running seriously rich with the JCW injectors or something I havent thought of yet....

T-Map Sensor is basically a temperture and absolute pressure sensor. e.g 6degress C and 31PSI will require a set amount of fuel as a baseline.

I would disregard the 6.71 and put me down as a 6.95er, In drag racing you only set a record if you can back it up within 1%, so as the 6.95 doesn't back up the 6.71 its a 6.95 car at the moment

only problem is im still waiting on my bottom bush mounts you can hear the mani hitting the anti roll bar, the engine check light comes on and the ecu retards the timing you can feel it

if i get them fitted then ill like to do a back to back test with a Intercooler to see how much of a difference it makes!

I personally reckon about 8-10 if you're lucky.

Nothing like real world testing for back to back mod changes and a dyno if you get your hands on one.

Certainly looking forward to your results on the Mini Mania 4-2-1 Manifold. Mine really seems to pull much hard in the mid range torque.

Tempted to say that 6.5 sec might be rogue one. Sometimes its easier to take the slowest and fastest time off first and then average. Especially if there are times that are quite a way different.

the times are all over the place because the two 5.sec runs i could feel the timing go out a bit but the 6secs runs you can really feel the timing go way out! its sooo anoying it feels like someone turning down the boost

thats why i really want to get the bush asap and see the times then tbh the 6dead is all all prob get from it.... at the moment

I reckon after a while we'll be able to work out a formula for weight / horsepower = 30-70 ET or 30-70 ET = power to weight ratio

About 6.2 second. I have my tacho in km/h so it was from 48kmh-112kmh. But because I am runing 205/40 17 and tacho lie a little (about 8km/h) I was measured from 50km/h to 120km/h.

2002 car (longer gearbox).

So I actually measured longer distance then you. The right will be from 56 to 120. But I cant' help I do not have a mph tacho.
You have in km/h too...so it would be easier to do this in km/h.

There are some pretty amazing cars with similar 30-70mph times:

Impreza STI: 5.0
Evo VIII: 4.9
Exige MK2: 4.8

Z4 M Coupe: 4.6

But the ones to beat are:

599 GTB: 2.6
LP640: 2.8
Zonda: 2.6
Carrera GT: 2.7
Veyron: 2.0

Come on Paul, load up the nitrous and see if you can wup the Veyron between 30-70!

I get the older box. I will try in second tonight.

I totally missed this post BigShow, glad you believe we can go in the 2s but really you should be asking Roland with the GTT350.

Just experimenting at the moment so might have a new figure later, this is nearly better than drag racing, defintley a lot cheaper

Where are all the heavy hitters times like GTT270, SuperCoopers, Bhozer, Lucky Dave, Crofty etc etc
