Offline | Not sure whats happening on that vid but i'd say the guy in the Atom is playing with the mini. The atom weighs only about 500kg and has around 220-225bhp. I watched a vid somewhere online recently about the fastest 0-60 world record and there was a guy in an Atom who blew everyone away, he was posting times of around 2.75 secs, the world record is about 2.6 or something close and it was a standard Atom. He did manage to blow the engine though!! |

Offline | Nice vid. Nice to see a MINI keeping in front of an Atom. I wouldnt have expected that. How about 230whp and who-knows-what-tq. Whos done the tuning? Is it one of Jans? |

Offline | The Ariel's playing with the Mini or the driver is pathologically opposed to doing any of that scary over-taking stuff. Any corner/straight of the track, the Atom would be able to blitz the Mini: Non-supercharged Atom2 is 220BHP, 456Kgs = 482 BHP/tonne (ugh, sorry about the units) MCS 175BHP, 1200Kgs = 145 BHP/tonne Maybe there's a state of tune for an MCS that could bridge that gap, but I doubt it would be happy on a track with bends. |

Offline | of course an atom is faster, driving still counts what you don't see on the film is Danny driving all over the top of him before he finally waves him by. We both ran faster lap times than 3 of the 4 aerial atoms that were there. Of course our times were the fastest that the track operators had ever seen in a Mini... so go figure ![]() |

Offline | No doubt the driver has a huge role to play. In this case, I think this Atom driver was responsible for about 500kg of performance difference . Which is not to belittle your tuning or yours or Danny's driving.Incidentally, I used the weight for the R56 MCS since I don't have the older model's weight to hand. Anyone know it off-hand? |

Offline | Looks like he isnt really even touching the throttle on the Atom.... Would be interesting to see it being driven fast around the track. Sounds a bit like its supercharged too when he actually accelerates. |

| MINI2 Master | the Atom has never hit 0-60 in 2.6 secs. the record attempt they did recently at Trax i was there, and the guy driving was a goon, best was 3.07 to 60 in one direction, the wind behind it too surprisingly. so it did'nt count as oficial as not both ways. he melted the clutch. That was a supercharged one which is nye on 300bhp. Civic type-r engine with a jackson supercharger from memory Oh and if you really want to see a fast 0-60 time then my mates dad's Mk6 Ford Fiesta does 0-60 in 1.9 seconds now that is fast, although he is the ex-rallycross champion hich explains it. |

| MINI2 Master | Yep, sure is, althought that was'nt pat dorans fiesta, that was his son liam's who is now setting similar times and in some cases beating him in his own mk6 fiesta and thats just rear wheel drive. I'd love a road going version. in fact there is a standard mk6 fiesta 4 door running 550 bhp, and it is quick and stealth Mk 6 Fiesta Cosworth at Bruntingthorpe |

Offline | Never said the Atom hit 2.6. I believe the existing record was something like that and I thought the guy was running close to that in his Atom. His average over the 2 runs probably was 3.07 but doesn't mean to say one of those runs wasn't below 3 secs!! |
