| Thinking Minis | Rolling road tested at last! After much of my time spent setting up my mini with road testing I got round to putting it on the rollers! The main point I would like to make clear is that im very happy with the results on the road but I just wanted to get them backed up on the rollers as so many people have asked how the tuning has been going. The dyno chosen was 1320s and im sure we are all aware of the hot dyno topic with questions raised with regard to tuning for the road or tuning for a power run. Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to Paul, Chris and Tom for all the hot tea, banter and care taken with the car. Also it was very kind of them to allow me to slow down the process with all my data logging !! The spec is as follows 2005 Cooper S now with 28,000 on the clock GTT 210 kit fitted when the car was brand new Since added, GTT exhaust manifold & cat Miltek cat back exhaust Works airbox with gtt inners shrek camshaft GTT stage 2 head GTT Throttle body GTT intercooler Standard size lower pulley but 17% charger pulley larger 450cc injectors and adjustable fuel reg. Bosch LS4.2 wideband sensors running some home made/setup wideband fuel controller! Running shell optimax with no addatives OK now for the info! The car was a pain to get to grip in the rollers due to worn lower wishbone rubbers which gave up on the trip to 1320s that morning of all times! But with Myself and Paul weighing down the car it has some extra grip! On the second run we had a power cut!! and were left in darkness, I still believe it was the power surge created by my beast of a car!!! Yes I had so much power I blew the rollers up!! Only kidding! 243.5 bhp @ 6856 205.3 ft lb @ 5413 205.8 whp 37.7whp loss Intake temps were at 21 before the runs and did not go over 50 at any time. Exhaust temps maxed at 820 with cylinders 2 and 4 being the hottest then 3 then 1 ![]() A/F was between 10.5 and 11.9 on full load with it getting a little richer at top end due to the car running a works map. All in im chuffed, on the trip home the logged data was smoother and better than on the rollers, with the A/F being very steady just going to show the car is tuned for the road but can still hold its own on the rollers ![]() Cheers again guys! Lucky is a way of life (tm) 243.5 bhp & 205.3 ft lb |

| Premier League | Great figures Dave, was a good day even if a little on the cold side! ![]() Hope you don't mind me hijacking the thread to post my own figures as well, like Dave the car goes like a train on the road and putting it on the rollers was more out of curiosity and to check for any pinking. The spec: 2004 (facelift) convertible with 47,000 miles (covered across most of Western Europe! Now semi-retired though )GTT220 GTT Throttle body Janspeed Man Milltek GRS Intercooler 450cc Injectors + AFPR Wideband Sensor The figures: 226.3 bhp / 7006 185.9 ft lb / 4881 203 whp Boost is around 20psi, the car was running on BP Ultimate thanks to me forgetting my wallet when going to fill up with Optimax this morning ![]() Whilst the figure @ the fly was lower than I expected I was pleased as punch to break through the 200 @ the wheels barrier, and the figures compare well with Dave's car which has the stage 2 head, Works map and camshaft (all of which are standard on my car). We did a little tuning to richen it up at the bottom, it now runs very slightly on the rich side of perfect for security and was running incredibly smoothly on the way home Cheers to the guys at 1320 for an excellent day and some cracking tea, was good to meet you all! ![]() Edit: Forgot to thanks Dave and Ade for all their hard work setting the car up recently. Cheers guys, it's much appreciated! Last edited by k m s : Nov 23rd, 2007 at 09:51 PM. Reason: To thank Dave and Ade! |

Offline | I think you should start your own thread k m s instead of hijacking Dave's thread ![]() Look forward to Ade's thread though the road is nice to tune on I think all of you would agree you can learn a lot of information a lot quicker on the dyno especially when you're trying different parts / tunes![]() Then of course its nice to back it up on the 30-70 3rd gear test or more importantly 1320ft of black tarmac ![]() There's a lot more trq / horsepower to find yet ![]() Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND BUT HOW WELL YOU SPEND IT |

Offline | If your front bushes are totally knackered and your front shock extension and rear shock compression are soft then you might have the same problem Roland. Knowing you have got Bilsteins PSS9s on you wont have a problem. Slicks 11.77@115.92mph Street tyres 12.162 @ 119.02 IT'S NOT HOW MUCH YOU SPEND BUT HOW WELL YOU SPEND IT |

| Thinking Minis | Yes im running stock S suspension and the lower bushes are fully destroyed!! I have tried both eibach springs and KW varient 3s but could not get on with either as it was too hardcore on the motorway which left me worn out after a 100 mile drive! Offline | Turns out the 1320 kettle blew out the power. So 1320 decided to test it. The spec is as follows: 2005 Kettle 13 Amp fuse 253.5 bhp @ 6856 215.3 ft lb @ 5413 0-Boiling: 90 seconds ![]() Has also done the 1/4 mile in 13.2 seconds( they forgot to take it out of the boot once) So conclusive proof that a kettle is more powerful than Daves car ![]() ![]() ![]() Like mine then. |
