Offline | Which discrete 15% pulley The garage that is going to fit a 15% reduction pulley for me has been let down by their supplier and I need the pulley fitted before a run out on Saturday. The one that they normally fit is mat black and discrete. I like the alta black pullies but the pictures on the internet suggest that they may look to much like an aftermarket fitment. Can anyone recommend an alternative. I need to order tomorrow to ensure car is ready for a run out on Saturday. I think the black ones sold by MED look ok but I don't know whether they are good quality. Cheers Carl Last edited by DaFlake : Nov 28th, 2007 at 01:16 PM. |

Offline | Thanks for the offer Paul but I looked at an Alta pulley the other night without the sticker and was put off by the etched in logo and the fact it said 15% on the rim. No doubt I will come back with my tail beween my legs if the pulley I bought doesn't last! I am still thinking about the GRS and will give you a ring in due course. Went for an MED pulley in the end. Cheers Carl |

| I miss my MINI | ?? Are you saying that the Alta pulley is garbage or that if your SC has issues after the swap and they see it they will void the warranty. If it is the latter, I suggest that you wait if you are worried about warranty as the techs are not stupid and will spot a non-stock pulley straight off. As for Alta, they are quality in product so you wouldn't have gone wrong with them. If you are going to mod, you better get used to the fact that you are responsible for the car. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() |

| I miss my MINI | We can argue this all day. The point is that if you mod your car, you need to be responsible enough to take ownership of any possible failures. Trying to slide one by the dealer because you broke it raises the costs for everyone else. Big companies don't lose money, they make it. Who do you think finally pays for your warranty work on modded parts? The rest of the consumers. So, if you arn't man enough to take the resposibilty when you mod, then you shouldn't do it. If you are just looking for stealth parts because you want a sleeper, then there is nothing wrong with that. Lastly, the mechs are not stupid. Many of them are car fanatics (which is why they do it) and can spot a pulley change a mile away. It takes heat to get the old pulley back on and pretty decent skill not to scoorch the shaft when doing it. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | Only bothered about insurance. I am not daft enough to think that a technician will not spot the pulley. Having said that the local BM garage cover warranty work on tunes engines!! Anyway, anything that goes wrong just means an excuse to upgrade. |
