LCS1 or not?!

Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum, so sorry if this seems an obvious question!

I am thinking about moding my Cooper S and was thinking about changing the supercharger pully to a 15% and also getting a Alta Induction Kit.

My question is: Has anyone else done this and what it their thoughts? Or should I not go for this option and go for a Lohen LCS1 upgrade?

I also need to have brakes all round, so am thinking about going for the EBC Discs, Greenstuff pads, Goodrich Braided hoses with 5.1 fluid.

Please can I have you advice and thoughts!

Thanks,

I would recomend that if your going for the LSC1 (or that sort of money) then get 15% pulley, Intake and then forget the map for now and get a GRS intercooler from them instead. The pulley does not require a map to give more power or work safely. A map can however help extract the full potential power of the pulley but an intercooler can also help get more power. I have alta intake 15% and stock IC and she used to cook. I now run an uprated GP IC (a grs would be better) and she has more grunt and is much cooler (safer for engine)

Thanks Richard.

I was looking to spend around the £900.00 mark inc the brakes so the IC will take me over that. How much was the GP IC and where did you get it from?

Would I do much damage by getting the 15% pulley and the induction kit without the uprated IC?

Having myself spent more than 3 times the amount you're looking to spend at Lohen I can't speak highly enough of the engine/BBK conversion they fitted. However if I had my time again I would do the following mods in this order at 1320Autos to get the power:

15% Alta V2 pulley £283 fitted
GRS IC £440 fitted
Janspeed manifold £632 fitted
Camshaft £350 fitted
380cc JCW Injectors £290 fitted

Then if I was you I would live with the power for a bit and save up the money and get Lohen to fit the AP BBK kit as its simply the best value BBK money can buy IMO.

Brakes

As a quick fix to better brakes I would use Mintex 1155's on standard brake discs. Leave the rears as standard OEM as MINI tends to be biased towards the rear anyway.

I would avoid Green Stuff unless you like phoning your insurance company Yellow Stuff or Mintex.

Hi there Smifster,

Went to Lohen yesterday (20th) and had their LB1 kit fitted along with a 15% pulley, plugs and protector. So far am very very impressed with them. The brakes work v v well without having to hammer them and the pulley change is fantastic! Can't speak highly enough about them.

Richard, was thinking about the re-map but decided not to have it done at the moment - would you suggest that or the up-rated intercooler or a CAI?

Cheers

Joe
